The Man from Outer Space

A curved black hat. That´s what he wore. It partially covered his strange looking ears, they where quite flat and barely visible. A long black coat covered his entire body, making it impossible to see the shape of his body. He just stood there, gazing at nothing.

I asked Jake, the bartender, who that man was. He put his glass down and replied that he did not know the dark stranger. Jake had quite a few connections in Mason Ville, so it was a bit odd that he hadn’t seen the man before. After all the town only has a population of about 700 people.

After a couple of minutes I discovered that the man had not been drinking anything since Jake and I arrived at the bar. It looked like he tried to avoid talking to people.
The corner, that’s where he stood. For 2 hours in a row, he didn’t move a bit. Jake suggested that I should go say something. It’s not that I didn’t want to, but something inside me knew I’d better not.

It was nearly twelve o ‘clock and suddenly we saw movement coming from the corner. The man took a piece of paper from his coat and grabbed a pen from his pocket. The pen was marked with strange symbols. It had a blueish color illuminating from it. A couple of seconds later he put the paper and pen away. Something was written down on that paper and we were dying to find out what.

A moment later the man walked to the door, almost without a sound. I quickly convinced Jake to get his jacket and come along with me to follow the man. His friend Brian would look after the bar for a couple of minutes. We rushed outside to see if we could still spot the man. We looked around but didn’t see something at first, the sky had already turned dark and the clothes the man wore didn’t make the job easier. But then there was a small but sharp light about 100 feet away from the bar, near the edge of the forest. We started running.

We quickly stopped running and hid behind some tall bushes. We saw something unbelievable. The light we saw was hovering inside the hands of the man, like a small orb the size of an orange, but it illuminated a white light. Only seconds later the man dissapeared in a white flash. He was gone before we even realised what was going on. We quickly ran to the exact place the man had been standing. Jake discovered the piece of paper the man wrote and showed it to me:

“23.32: Wasn’t able to change the course of time from this place. Will have to try again before ‘The Great Ending’ to save mankind, ”
