The Egret

While walking in the park one day,
I came upon a sight.
I saw an egret standing there,
Oh was this a delight!

He was in the Ridley Creek,
Looking for his lunch.
I stopped and watched him as he searched,
And he found a fish and munched.

He swallowed whole this little fish,
And then he looked for more.
I sat and waited while he waded,
Not knowing what was in store.

He caught some more and ate again,
He seemed to enjoy the fish.
And then, oh no, he flew away,
And didn’t leave a dish.
