ROUTE 52

“Swing low, sweet chariot, coming for to carry me home”

When it comes to the summation of an event you are afraid to speak on what it actually represents
You find yourself unable to speak on the monumental affects so instead we all hint
“GOD brought me a mighty long way!” -Now that I’m not afraid to say…
But like the Preacher-man said, “Long way from where?”
And the ‘where’ is paramount

“What kind love would place itself in harm’s way?” Sung BeBe

For me ‘where’ started in University’s City, wandered me Over to a Brook and finally left traveling
On tha deuce
In all truth, I never saw you at all until I started looking for me
And on the deuce is where inspiration-less find their muse

Welcome to…

Stressed out babies’ moms ’cause daddies couldn’t care less so there is no tag-team
Child screams, Mom screams, We all scream: You shouldna had no baby you couldn’t take care of!!!
Never mind, we all, also, told her she was doing the right thing by not having no abortion
Never mind, no one talk about the different birth controls, so she could get the right control over her ability to birth
Never mind, no one wants to ever really explain that no matter how much of blessing a child is,
They are also a tax
An anchor
An object of control, raising even one will take its toll
Parenthood is not for the faint of, finances, vacation & sick days, experience-let alone-heart
And on the deuce is where the self-righteous find their proof
When it comes to the realization of an event you are afraid to say what you actually meant
You find yourself catering to social-regulations; after-all no one wants to labeled a ‘snitch-hater’
But grandmas tell you truth, “A closed mouth don’t get fed.”
It ain’t about being loud and proud, it’s about how you say what needs to be said
And for me, it needs to be said, I see too much potential On tha deuce
Not being put to any GOD-given use
And it ain’t just today’s youth, it’s the old-folks wasting their GOD-given time too
Too much complaining about what ain’t changing
How many Ghandi shirts must I see? “You must be the change [you wish to see].”
And on the deuce is where the faithless find their excuse

Welcome to…
