Review of Zhu Zhu Pets Zhu-oom to the Finish Family Board Game from Cra-Z-Art

A couple months ago, I was doing some shopping at Walgreen’s and came across the Zhu Zhu Pets Zhu-oom to the Finish Family Board Game from Cra-Z-Art. Christmas was just around the corner and I thought it would be a great present for my oldest daughter so I decided to pick it up. The fact it was only about $10 also helped with that decision.

As I had planned, she got it as one of her Christmas gifts this past December. However, we didn’t have an opportunity to play it with her until we had a weekend at home this past Saturday and Sunday. After finally playing it, I have to say it was worth the money.

My oldest daughter actually already has a Zhu Zhu Pets board game that I bought for her as a birthday gift. That game, while fun, is very time consuming and, as a result, isn’t one that we play very often (mostly because she can’t sit still that long). This game is just as fun as that one. The only difference is it is much easier to play.

The rules of this game are very similar to two other games, Candy Land and Chutes and Ladders. Basically, you have to be the first to get your hamster to the finish line by spinning the spinner and moving it to the corresponding color. If you land on a space with a slide, you have to slide down it. This will either move you ahead or backwards depending on the spot.

The thing I liked about this game is it was pretty fast paced. My wife and daughter were near the finish line in a matter of minutes and I was able to catch up to them a short time later (I ultimately won it). In fact, it was so easy, I think my youngest daughter (who is 2), probably could play it with a little help.

My only real concern about the game is it might be a bit too simple for my oldest daughter (who is 7). She enjoys it now. But, I think it’s a game she’ll get bored with easily and it’s only a matter of time before she isn’t interested in it any more. However, as I said before, I paid a reasonable price for it and I do think I’ll get my money’s worth when it is handed down to her younger sister.

If your child likes Zhu Zhu Pets, I recommend looking for this board game and giving it a try.
