Review: Black Raspberry and Vanilla Softsoap

If you own a sink, you probably own some sort of liquid hand soap, and with so many brands and hundreds of scents to choose from, it’s easy to find one – or more – that you like.

Softsoap is one of the more well-known brands of liquid hand soap, and recently my roommate purchased Softsoap’s Black Raspberry and Vanilla liquid hand soap for our bathroom.

I don’t really like the scent of vanilla. It’s too sweet for my tastes, but the scent of Softsoap’s Black Raspberry and Vanilla hand soap balances out the sweet with the tart of the black raspberry. On top of that, the smell isn’t overpowering or very strong, really, and it definitely still smells like soap.

For $.97, six ounces of Softsoap seems like a great deal to me, although one could probably make the argument that buying the big refill bottles is smarter economically. I like buying the small bottles, because I like to mix up the scents. Smelling the same thing month after month after month gets boring, don’t you know?

Softsoap hand soap is also made in the U.S.A., so anyone who is looking to buy home-made goods should consider Softsoap brand hand soaps to keep in their bathroom or kitchen.

My only complaint is that the pump always dispenses way more soap than is necessary for me to wash my hands, and if I don’t collect it all in my hand, it drips on my counter, which is a pain in the rear. And yes, I have tried only pushing the pump part way down, but it still drips strings of soap. And that goes for all Softsoap hand soap pumps.

Otherwise, Black Raspberry and Vanilla Softsoap hand soap is a great choice if you like the sweet, sort of exotic smell of raspberries and vanilla mixed together. And if not, well, there are plenty of other reasons to buy Softsoap: made in the U.S.A., inexpensive, and lots of other scents to choose from anyway.
