Repurpose the leg from a pair of old blue jeans into an individualized one-of-a-kind iPad cover. Select a pair of blue jeans that have legs wide enough for the I-pad to slide inside prior to starting the project. Use the upper portion of the leg when using skinny or straight leg jeans.
Things You’ll Need:
Old blue jeans
Scissors
Straight pins
Sewing machine
Thread
Instructions:
Step 1 – Place a pair of old blue jeans on a flat work surface. Smooth all wrinkles from the jeans with your hands.
Step 2 – Place the iPad on the jeans so the top of the I-pad is in alignment with the crotch seam.
Step 3 – Cut the top layer of fabric along the top of the iPad from the outer leg to the crotch. Cut through both layers of fabric approximately 2-inches beneath the bottom of the iPad.
Step 4 – Flip the blue jeans over. Cut along the back seam and leg seam of the jeans to remove the remaining portion of denim from the cut leg portion.
Step 5 – Turn the blue jeans inside out. Pin along the bottom edge of the leg. Sew a straight ½-inch seam along the opening.
Step 6 – Zigzag along the cut edges of the top portion of the bag.
Step 7 – Turn the zigzag edges down ½-inch and pin in place. The waist edge is the top of the bag. Sew a straight seam down the center of the turned area to hem.
Insert your iPad into the bag. Flip the top portion of the bag down to secure the I-pad inside the container. Add a strip of Velcro at the bottom of the flap to hold in place securely. An optional strap can be made from a 2-inch strip of denim approximately 24-inches long.
