Pros and Cons of the 2011 Chevy Impala from a Regular Person

We’ve all read great reviews by car experts. They are ripe with with facts and figures and terms like McPherson Struts and Power Rack and Pinion Steering. I admit that my expertise barely extends past getting from point A to point B. I make no qualms about it. I know other women with more knowledge, and men with less.

What I do know is that I commute an hour each way to work, and I do that in my car. I am currently renting this 2011 Chevy Impala for two weeks while my 2001 Daewoo Leganza is with my mechanic. Yes, I said two weeks, but I also said 2001 Daewoo Leganza.

Compared to a ten year old car, almost anything seems like an improvement. I have, however, come up with my Top 3 Pros and Cons of this 2011 Chevy Impala, from the perspective of a regular person.

Pros:

It’s very comfortable. The interior is spacious and not at all cramped. There is plenty of leg room, head room and elbow room.

The trunk is huge. I frequently travel for work to other parts of the State of Texas. I’ve rented this vehicle on those trips as well. I bring items include hanging clothes, a suitcase, backpack with my computer, work materials and more. There plenty of room for all.

E-85 Flex Fuel. With today’s gas prices, any relief is welcome. I paid $.30 (thirty cents) LESS for the flex fuel than regular unleaded at the gas station a couple of days ago. Awesome!

Cons:

Mediocre gas mileage. The flex fuel option barely makes up for the low city mileage for me. I am currently getting 17.6 miles per gallon according to the digital read out on the car.

Air conditioning vents too wide. The vents reach the entire car very well, but I’d like to have them more focused and directed in this South Texas heat. This is really more of a nuisance than anything.

A little more than I want to pay. Ok, the MSRP price range on this car is from $24,495-$30,035. For me to get the car with the best it has to offer I would struggle to pay over $30,000.

Ultimately I really like this car. The only serious drawback for me is the gas mileage. It’s my preferred car when I rent for work, pleasure, or when my own car in the shop.
