Obama Unscathed by Calls for Impeachment

COMMENTARY | As if protected by an invisible force field, Barack Obama carries out his presidential business, untouched by the animated complaints of his opponents. Conservatives scrutinize and blast his unwavering will with vile contempt for being in conflict with the best interests of America. As the news wires buzz with the possibilities of Obama’s impunities, he stays the course, his path resolute.

While numerous demands for his impeachment have been published both, on TV, and in print, none of them HAS managed to gain footing in the public, legal or political arena. Exclamations of infringement fall on the deaf ears of a nation unwilling to condemn their leader. The statement has been put forth that, Bush would have been impeached for less. If that is true, the reasons for Obama’s resiliency are not easily ascertainable.

Perhaps it is because he is the first African-American president. Historically, America has given unique regard to notable firsts. Charles Lindbergh, Amelia Earhart, and Neil Armstrong, are just a few examples of America’s celebrations of her first time heroes. We coddle them with favoritism and shower them with praise. We build a dome of security around them, so no-one can penetrate and exploit the exceptionalism that makes America great. We protect our perceived heroes like a mama bear protects her cubs.

American’s have a tendency to overlook the petty little iniquities that occasionally rise up to destroy our idols. When one becomes apparent, we strengthen the dome, avoiding the intrusion of those that would seek to tear it down. We refuse to let these opinioned affronts affect our anointed ones. Only when offense of the most apprehensible nature becomes impossible to ignore do we turn our backs in disgust and dethrone a national symbol.

Obama received his dome the moment he won the presidency. With pride in our hearts at yet another American first, we embraced the occasion, and placed the dome of protection upon him, a crown to be wore forever, with dignity and honor. Obama’s dome remains in effect and America remains reluctant to attack one of her own without verifiable cause.

However, should indisputable evidence ever surface that Obama has sought to cause harm, America will react. Enemies of the common cause do not fare well here; liberty and justice for all, is a phrase we take to heart, and we expect every leader to do the same.
