“Live with Kelly” Debuts on ABC on Mon., Nov. 21, 2011

“Live With Kelly” will premiere on ABC on Mon., Nov. 21, 2011 with Kelly Ripa as host. The show is expected to follow pretty much the same format as “Live With Regis & Kelly”, at least for now anyhow.

With the departure of Regis Philbin on Fri., Nov. 18, 2011, after hosting the show for 28 years, Kelly Ripa will be taking over the hosting duties. Until a permanent co-host is selected, Kelly will be hosting with a number of different co-hosts, the first being comedic legend, Jerry Seinfeld, who will be sitting in the chair next to Kelly for the first 3 shows.

Kelly Ripa, lovingly referred to as “Pipa”, by Regis, celebrated her 10 year anniversary on the show this year. Among some of the memorable events in Kelly’s life since she began her co-hosting duties on “Live With Regis & Kelly”, were the births of 2 of her children. She was pregnant with her daughter Lola when she began co-hosting the show after Kelly Lee Gifford left to pursue other interests.

Prior to her co-hosting duties on “Live With Regis & Kelly”, Kelly Ripa starred on the ABC daytime “All My Children”, as Hayley Vaughan for 12 years. While on that show she met and married her co-star, Mark Consuelos. They eloped in Las Vegas in 1996 and have 3 children, and now call Manhattan, their home. She also starred in the ABC sitcom “Hope & Faith” from 2003-2006.

Kelly Ripa fought back tears through most of Regis’s final farewell show. The invitation only, star studded event, included a number of celebrities and even a politician or two. Kelly also gave her own tearful farewell speech. In addition, tweets from around the country were sent wishing Regis the best. Regis posted a big “Thank You” on Tweeter to his many dedicated fans.

Although mornings may not be the same without Regis, It has been reported that Kelly Ripa has signed a 5 year contract with the ABC network. We wish her well.
