Lenny’s Bar and Grill

Another week has passed, another Friday has arrived
And it seems that my itinerary was a bit contrived
Methinks the most capricious zephyr hath more design than I
That I procrastinate is something I cannot deny

So I went down the corner to Lenny’s Bar and Grill
Home to sundry sons of bitches prone to walking on the bill
And if nobody knows you yet, everybody will
‘Cause you’ll always come back to Lenny’s Bar and Grill

I ordered up a beer or ten to help myself forget
About my sobriety and lit a cigarette
A man sat down beside me, even though my cloud of smoke
I could tell that he was different than most other folks

He had an air about him, with that turban on his head
Which brought to mind lobotomies, or better far instead
Dressed in silk, his finery was something to behold
I turned to him and said, “Good sir, if I may be so bold;

You seem so out of place. I must admit your fancy style
Has not been seen around these parts for quite a great, long while
Why would one such as yourself come, of his own free will,
To lose his everlasting soul at Lenny’s Bar and Grill?”

Readily apparent was his fear as he replied
“Never was I good with lies, I guess I must confide
Due to something terrible I’ve done, someone has died
So I suppose I came here for a quiet place to hide

Now that you know my awful secret, silence is a must
I must take measure to ensure you won’t betray my trust
Name anything that you desire, and take it from my hand
For I’m a genie of a lamp, your wish is my command.”

Anything that I could want was only words away
The world was at my fingertips, to use an old cliché
I thought for just a moment, which seemed closer to a year
I looked him in the eye and said, “How ’bout another beer?”
