Jacksonville Florida Thanksgiving Weekend Light Parade

Jacksonville is often referred to as “the river city” because the downtown area is sprawled on both sides of the St. John’s River. Four bridges span the river near the city center, the Main Street Bridge, the Acosta Bridge, the Fuller Warren Bridge and the Matthews Bridge.

Spectators travel from near and far to the Jacksonville city center over Thanksgiving weekend to watch the annual Light Parade.

The Parade of Lights 2011 takes place on Saturday November 26th–Thanksgiving weekend, in the downtown area of Jacksonville. Local owners of all types of boats are invited to decorate their vessels with lights and festive themes and cruise down the river.

After the parade, enjoy the signature “waterfall” fireworks display. The fireworks will be shot from barges located at various points on both sides of Main Street Bridge.

Spectators are invited to bring chairs, blankets, food and drinks and set themselves up along the banks of the river. The event starts at 7:00 pm and admission is free. Park on the streets wherever you can find a spot.
