How to Properly Wear a Long Wear Lip Product

Long wearing lip products have hit the cosmetic industry hard lately. Many women who buy these lip products are disappointed after trying this lip product out. Whether it be a lip stain or a twelve hour lip color, sometimes the product you purchased is not up to par. Good news ladies! If you have recently felt that a long wearing lip product is not up to par, it may very well be the way you are applying the product and not the product itself. Follow these steps to achieve a lip look that will stay put all day!

1. The first step is to exfoliate your lips. Many times the dead skin tissue on your lips absorbs the color and can slough off very easily. To exfoliate your lips you do not even have to spend much money. Take a teaspoon of olive oil and a tablespoon of sugar in a bowl and mix. The sugar mixture you have made is a cheap version of those expensive sugar scrubs you find at cosmetic counters and it works just as well. Rub the scrub on your lips and you have removed all of the dead skin that causes your long wearing lip color to fade away. It is only a bonus that it tastes sugary sweet!

2. Remember to moisturize your lips before applying the product. Moisturized lips hold color far better that dry lips. Take a simple lip moisturizing product and apply liberally. Blot the excess product off of your lips with a tissue to remove the oils. You should now be left with non-greasy moisturized lips.

3. It is now time to apply your long wearing lip product. Only apply one layer of whatever you have chosen. The more color you put on, the more it will cake up. Give the lip product ample time to dry. The longer you wait before drinking a beverage or eating a snack will only ensure that the product will last longer.

4. Once the product is dry, reapply the lip moisturizer. You can even put a gloss on top of it. The color should have dried on your lips before you applied the lip moisturizer. You should now be left with stained lips that will be looking fresh all day.

Remember ladies, many times a product you feel has not worked for you may just be the way you used it. Lips that have been exfoliated and moisturized hold color much better than dry and flaky lips. So if you find that perfect long wearing lip color but are afraid it really will not stay put, just follow these simple steps to make the most out of your new purchase!
