“He is honest as the day is long”
always bothered me.
Is he less honest in the winter
when the days are shorter?
Does he put on his lying hat
when the sun goes down?
If he wakes before sunrise
does he sneak a few lies in
just to get it out of his system?
What happens if there is an eclipse
Is that like a timeout from honesty ?
And if he lived in Alaska
when it is dark for 24 hours
why bother being honest ?
What if he works nights
does his taxes at night
sees his wife at night
how honest is he then?
What happens if he takes
A lie detector test at night?
Isn’t evening half day, half night
so is he sometimes
half honest?
Does he tell his kids stories at night
how can they trust him?
Please don’t say
“I am as honest as the day is long”.
I am confused enough
