Green Mountain Inn: Enjoyable Experience at a Great Hotel in Stowe, Vermont

Nestled in the picturesque mountains of Stowe, Vermont, The Green Mountain Inn is located in the center of the town, within walking distance of numerous shops and restaurants. The hotel, according to its website, includes 105 guest rooms, luxury rooms and suites, and village apartments and townhouses. Visitors to the hotel can dine at two restaurants that offer delectable cuisine, and there is even a heated outdoor pool that is available to guests, during every season of the year. Another attraction of the critically acclaimed hotel is visitors can exercise at a health club that has many amenities, including a sauna and Jacuzzi.

Earlier this year, in February, I vacationed to the town of Stowe, and stayed at the Green Mountain Inn, for the second time in two years (at the time of this writing, I have been to the Inn three times, in total). I spent the night lodging in a cozy and comfortable guest room, that had a queen canopy bed and cable television. The room did not have a fireplace, as a few rooms in the hotel do have, but I was neither cold or hot, as the room stayed at a perfect room temperature.

For one night of staying at the Green Mountain Inn, the bill for one night of lodging came to a whopping $197.05. I found this expense to be incredibly high, but I was not surprised because the Green Mountain Inn has established a reputation for elegant service and deluxe rooms. Since the hotel is also conveniently located in a bustling ski town, it attracts many vacationers of Stowe, and this is a reason why the room was, in my opinion, expensive.

My three visits to the Green Mountain Inn has allowed me to learn the advantages and disadvantages of staying at the hotel. There are many advantages. First, as previously mentioned, the inn is located within walking distance to a number of restaurants and shops. Many of the tourist attractions on the Mountain Road, the road in Stowe that leads tourists to its world-renowned ski slopes, are within a mile from the hotel. Second, the Green Mountain Inn has two great restaurants – one that offers breakfast, and the other lunch, dinner. The one that offers dinner, The Whip Bar and Grill, is a popular restaurant that is occasionally busy on the weekends, especially during wintertime, and offers an array of great meals, especially filet mignon and numerous seafood dishes. Third, if you enjoy swimming on your vacation, I would recommend the heated pool.

There are also disadvantages of staying at the Green Mountain Inn, though the advantages outweigh them. First, the hotel is pricey, as illustrated by the cost of my hotel fee for one night. Moreover, the second important disadvantage is that the hotel can feel very crowded with tourists staying there, especially during the wintertime. The wintertime is usually when most vacationers travel to Vermont, to enjoy the opportunity of skiing the snow-covered mountains, but a number of tourists also vacation in Stowe during the summer months.

I would strongly recommend booking your hotel stay weeks in advance. It cannot be stressed enough how busy Green Mountain Inn is during peak months of tourism. Another recommendation is for tourists to subscribe to Green Mountain Inn, via e-mail, so that they can enjoy the latest discounted offers for this conveniently located, often-crowded hotel.
