Religion, yes it really is what the tea baggers make it out to be. I am just going to touch on Christianity today because, well, I feel like it.
The one thing that bothers me the most is when “progressive” Christians say “Christianity is not like that, we are supposed to love one another.” Bullshit. Have you not read the bible? It would make Stephen King sleep with a nightlight on! When I bring up passages from the old testament, I get “But that is not what Jesus would do.” Bullshit “Jesus made a whip out of cords, and drove all from the temple area, both sheep and cattle; he scattered the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables.” John 2:15. “Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.” Matthew 10:34.
Need I remind you of the book of Revelation?? That shit is SCARY! Just to share a few passages with you:
And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all. Book of Revelation 18:21
He shall rule them with a rod of iron. Revelation, 2. 27
Revelation 2:23 “And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.”
Revelation 8:8-9 “And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood 9 And the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, and had life, died; and the third part of the ships were destroyed.“
Basically, Revelations is nasty. And did anyone ever notice it was written in past tense? Kind of like how someone would write a horror novel today? Hmmmm….
So to all those people yelling about the Tea party and even the Westboro Baptist Church, they are the ones being true to the bible, because after all, according to the bible itself, it is infallible. It is not meant to be “interpreted”. The words in the bible are supposed to be held as true and in stone.
I was having a conversation with my mother, who was raised Catholic, but left that church to become Lutheran. She said to me “Well, you can put down religion all you want, but it is what keeps us sane and moral. It keeps us civil and not barbaric.” I looked at her and started busting out laughing. Wars are fought every day because of religion, friendships are ended, fights are started, and people are put down if they do not believe by the believers. Religion is the ruination of this world. We will end up destroying one another because of religion.
I am so tired of sitting here saying “Well if that’s what you believe, that’s your right.” But you know what? The freedom of religion was the WORST Amendment to the Constitution. It keeps us dumb and from progressing. People home school their children to teach them only the “word of God”, people do not get their kids vaccines because of “religious purposes”, and people can protest military funerals and 9/11 memorials because they have the “right” to do so. Well you know what? FUCK THAT. Seriously.
Science should be our investment, not some story that was meant to be a novel. Science is relatively new compared to religion, but we have learned so much. Just think about it this way, when the bible was written, those people believed the Earth was flat and the sun revolved around us. They also believed that the Earth was only 6,000 years old, which we know for a FACT it is NOT. Even if you want to argue the fact that “carbon dating” blah blah blah and millions of years blah blah blah, it is still a proven fact that the Earth is at LEAST 10,000 years old. Now, I know that the Earth is 465 billion years old, but that is because I am willing to expand my mind and actually learn something.
So if you believe in the Christian religion, please do yourself and everyone else a favor: STOP LIVING IN DENILE! It is ruthless, violent, and intolerant.
And let me clarify, I could give two-shits if you believe in God, that is not an issue, it is the belief in a book that was written by MANY men to demine, undermine, and enslave women and anyone that wasn’t like them. It is truly a disgusting piece of filth. And if you don’t like, go be offended somewhere else, my give a shit button is broken.
