Now, as our community looks toward living healthier lives, we look for more options that are beneficial to our families. One of those is to offer healthy, farm fresh foods for better nutrition; and there is nothing better that to offer locally produced foods.
One of the places you can find them is at the Avon Park Florida Farmers Market in their new location at N Museum Ave in Avon Park. Their vendors offer fruits, vegetables, jams, jellies, baked goods, and other items. Their success is based in the idea to reach everybody in the community, hence, their operations hours are every Thursday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. I will highly recommend visiting them and take advantage of the variety of products and great prices they offer. Another option is the farm store owned by the McCracken family, McCracken Farms, located at 2945 Harnage Rd in Avon Park. They offer fresh fruit, vegetables, honey, jams and jellies. Their farms are organized in the “U-Pick” style, where you can choose some things straight from the plant like strawberries, blueberries, citrus, and some vegetables. I would recommend trying their homemade ice cream sold by the cone or cup, which are delicious. They are open seven days a week from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM. This third option comes with a little bit of a twist. I am talking about Henscratch Farms, located at 980 Henscratch Rd in Lake Placid. This farm is a vineyard and winery farm that, besides wine, also produces strawberries and blueberries. They offer vast variety of preserves, jams, jellies, syrups, oils, and sauces. They also breed hens to offer eggs for sale. Their operation hours vary according to the season, so it is best to contact them at 863-699-2060. They provide an online store where you can place an order and be delivered to you. Some restrictions apply.
Overall, each one of them is a different concept and I highly recommend visiting each one of them and enjoying what they have to offer to you.
