I interviewed a man simply known as the Gazillionaire, the multi-talented producer, MC and comedian in “ABSINTHE” now running at Caesars Palace. I feel “ABSINTHE” is the Most Original Show in Las Vegas. This show has so many surprises.
The Gazillionaire explained, “We pride ourselves in being different. The show is more of an experience. During most of the other Las Vegas shows, the audience just sits back complacently and watches the performers. In “ABSINTHE”, we make them part of the show. One of the most unique things about our show, it is so in- your- face, interactive theatrical experience.
We have some of the best performers in the world. Our acrobats, dancers, singers, novelty acts and aerialists are pretty awesome. The audience gets a whole array of different kinds of circus performers, but not just circus performers we have Melody Sweets, an incredible singer/ burlesque performer and Angel Porrino, the lady who tap dances with the big latex balloon. Angel coats her body in oil so her body has this glistening sense to it. Being covered in oil makes her act sexier to the delight of the men in the audience. She appeals to the 18 year old in all of us and is a great performer.
Our acts are very unique like the great chair stacking routine. This is not just somebody doing handstands on chairs, but this is tied to a story, a character, and a relationship between all of the performers that creates a unique and colorful world of its own.
We transport you into this amazing land of sensuality and come together with different types of unique talents. The show is amazing, a very unique and colorful experience.
Four Ukrainian men make designs with their bodies as they do a pyramid, hand stands and hand balancing. All of that is performed on a little 9′ platform. Some shows have huge sets, huge stages with stadium seating and the audience watches the show. We have a very small stage and the audience is underneath the pyramids, underneath the towering chairs. They have to look up.
One couple’s trapeze act is amazing. Instead of just going from trick to trick, the fluidity of their transitions is very sexy and hot. Their technique is flawless.
Penny Pibbets’ cute and a little bit dysfunctional puppet routine is a little sexy, a little cute and a little abusive. You don’t know what is going to come out of her mouth next. Penny does this sock puppet routine where she tells about her life and experiences in the circus. That’s what people want, something edgy, pushing the limits of what’s funny and what’s comedy.
When it comes to being in front of an audience, the most important thing in the show is me. I get down with the people to bring them out of their shells and engage them in the show. I find people’s buttons and push them a little bit or a lot. The audience is part of show in the world of “ABSINTHE” and the world of the Gazillionaire!”
There was one act after another in a line-up of great talent. Each act is unique offering different approaches, not like the acts we usually see.
