Eight Fun Things for Singles to Do on Valentine’s Day This Year

Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be the worst day of the year if your single. Instead of making it all about romance, turn the day into a day of loving yourself. Treat yourself like a queen and consider one or more of these options on your special day.

Spa day

Treat yourself to a manicure, pedicure, massage, hair cut or style, the works! There is nothing like pampering yourself to make you feel better on the inside and out.

A new hobby

Is there a hobby you always wanted to try, like painting or photography? Spend the day actually doing something you love, or gather research by going to the library or checking out classes on how to do something you always wanted to learn.

An outdoor adventure

If you like the outdoors, go skiing, snowboarding or even snowshoeing. You don’t need a partner to do any of those things, and sometimes it’s more fun to do out on your own, and at your own pace. You’ll be so worn out at the end of the day, you’ll enjoy soaking in a relaxing hot bath and a good night’s sleep.

If there’s no snow within a reasonable distance, consider a bike ride or even a hike.

Road trip

Discover a new scenic drive, pack a picnic, and bring your camera.

Visit a museum or art gallery

Spend the day playing tourist in your city and visit a museum or art gallery. You never know, there might be another hot single doing the same thing, and you’ll instantly have a common interest.

Volunteer

While you initially might think this is not something you would do for yourself, most people get more out of volunteering than they give. Spending the day with a senior who would have otherwise spent it alone is extremely rewarding, and you’ll have an entirely new perspective as well.

Borrow a pet if you don’t have one

Pets have the ability to love unconditionally, and what could be better on Valentine’s Day? If you don’t have one, consider borrowing a dog from a friend to take to the park or on a hike. You might also check with your local animal shelter or humane society as many allow and appreciate dog walkers.

Travel

If you have time to plan in advance, consider taking a trip around the romantic day. While you’re on vacation in a new and different locale you’ll be too busy exploring and having fun to worry about what day it is, and what you’re “supposed to be doing.”
