Demi Lovato’s Twitter Break: Reasons Why We Think it Won’t Last

Demi Lovato seems to be taking a break from Twitter. Here’s a look at why we don’t think it’s permanent.

The “Give Your Heart a Break” singer recently tweeted, “Can’t please everyone. Twitter break. It’s for the best actually. Who allows me to have this thing anyways?!!! I just get myself in trouble! Haha. Anyway… BYE!”

While Demi seems pretty intent on her decision to take a break, here are a few reasons why we think she’ll be back.

1. Demi’s break has more to do with temporary personal circumstances rather than Twitter itself.

Lovato seems to be going through some tough times right now, but she seems more frustrated with God and Wilmer Valderrama than with Twitter itself.

A few weeks ago, she tweeted, “Sometimes it seems like God just keeps throwing crap my way and I get SO angry with him… But there’s never a doubt in my mind He’s gonna pull me through it all. I know you’re there God. But umm… Really dude? I’m not very religious but I’m VERY spiritual and I DO believe in God. I’m not perfect or preaching! Just tweeting… :) Just keep swimming….”

A few days later she tweeted, “The smartest thing a woman can ever learn, is to never need a man.”

2. Demi has a history of leaving Twitter when she’s going through personal drama.

Back in November 2010, Lovato deleted her Twitter. This was right around the time she left her tour with the Jonas Brothers and checked into the rehab facility for emotional and physical issues. Once she conquered those massive personal demons, she came back.

3. Demi is very outspoken, and Twitter is one the quickest ways to get her point across.

When Disney Channel’s “Shake It Up” made a joke about an eating disorder, Lovato was quick to strike back on Twitter.

She tweeted, “I find it really funny how a company can lose one of their actress’ from the pressures of an EATING DISORDER and yet still make joke about.. …that very disease….. And is it just me or are the actress’ getting THINNER AND THINNER…. I miss the days of RAVEN, and LIZZIE MCGUIRE. Dear Disney Channel, EATING DISORDERS ARE NOT SOMETHING TO JOKE ABOUT.”

Her Twitter rant prompted an immediate apology from Disney Channel PR. Now just imagine if Demi didn’t have her social network as a platform to voice those opinions.

4. Demi loves to stay in touch with her fans, and her ‘Tweeps’ love her too much to let her go.

Just a few weeks ago, after the People’s Choice Awards, Demi tweeted, “My fans are EVERYTHING to me… My world, my life… Thank you SO much for my PCA!!!! FAVORITE POP ARTIST!!! YAYYY!!! I miss my fans… I wish I was having one giant meet and greet today so I could hug each and every one of you.”

She clearly loves connecting with her fans, and it’s mutual. As soon as she announced her intention to take a break from Twitter, #WeWillMissDemi became a trending topic.

5. History shows that Twitter Quitters usually return.

Remember Miley Cyrus’ infamous Goodbye Twitter Rap? Enough said.
