A Truthful Discussion of the Meal Plan Diet

There are many different diets out there that call themselves a meal plan diet. Essentially, a meal plan diet is when you diet according to a set meal plan. Each meal is planned out in excruciating detail. Typically meal plans go for an entire week, and repeat each week. However, if you want to put in the time and effort, you could likely come up with a meal plan that was different each and every week.

Developing the Meal Plan

The key to a meal plan diet is developing a good meal plan. You can find one online or through a weight loss program or you can create your own. The meal plan will need to follow some basic guidelines. Before you begin to develop your meal plan, you should be able to make a list of what your daily allowances will be for protein, crabs, whole grains, fats, vegetables and fruits. Once you have an idea of how many servings of each you want to consume each day, including what the size of a normal serving will be, you can begin to create your meal plan diet.

Have a checklist of everything you want to eat in a day. You will also need some recipe books, preferably low fat or low carb recipes, and notebook paper. Your paper should have five columns: breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, and dinner. Optionally you could have a dessert as well, but this is not typical with a strict meal plan diet. You should have seven rows, one for each day of the week. Start with Monday. Flip through your cook books and find foods that you will enjoy but meet (and don’t exceed) your serving requirements. Write each thing you will eat for breakfast down on the paper. Include page numbers for recipes so you can find them again when needed. Check off everything you are eating for breakfast from your checklist. Continue to your lunch, then dinner. Then, fill in any extra servings of fruits and vegetables that you aren’t getting in your meals in the boxes for snacks. This completes one day. Continue until you have filled up the entire week.

Following the Meal Plan Diet

All of this planning is all well and good, but if you don’t follow the diet you are going to be lost. The easiest way to make sure that you will follow your diet is to only buy the things necessary to make the meals and snacks you have listed out on your meal plan. If you are feeding more people than just yourself, put everyone on the same diet. Only buy what you need to make one serving per food, per meal, per person. No more, no less. This way you will have what you need, but there will not be any left overs tempting you after you finish your normal dinner. This will also help prevent you from cheating on your meal plan diet with items that you should never include, such as cookies and cakes.
