A Halloween Poem

Crisp are the leaves as the cool air blows,
for soon Jack Frost is nipping at your nose.
Pumpkins decorate doorsteps of all places,
while candy lights up young children’s faces.

Gone are the clothes of t-shirts and shorts,
here are the spiders, and witches with warts.
Gone are the hot Summer days,
gone are the leaves as the naked tree sways.

With every step a crunch of leaves are heard,
with every second, a new song from a bird.
With sweatshirts on, and layers ready,
chills roll in nice and steady.

The lone wolf howls as the full moon rises,
haunted houses are full of surprises.
The warm cider’s gone in the blink of an eye,
while smells linger of warm pumpkin pie.

Vampires dance, werewolves prance,
monsters scare with every chance.
For this is the tradition on Halloween night,
to give every soul a bite and a fright.
