For music lovers, Spartanburg has a number of free 2011 Christmas Choral events to attend that will kick-off your holiday season with beautiful traditional carols. #1-Candlelight Carols and Winter Lighting for All Ages

Date: Dec. 1, 2011

Location: Wofford College Spartanburg, SC in the Leonard Auditorium @ 429 N. Church St. Spartanburg, S.C.

Time: 5:35 p.m. – 7 p.m. Admission is free!

At 5:35, there will be a relaxing time of traditional carols, seasonal readings, and candlelight performed by The Glee Club, Women’s Choir, Wofford men, and Goldtones. Following the carols will be the annual lighting of the Campus Tree and Menorah. This event is free and open to the public! For additional information contact [email protected]

#2 -Festival of Lessons and Carols for All Ages

Date: Dec. 1, 2011

Location: Converse College in Twichell Auditorium @ 580 E. Main Street Spartanburg, S.C.

Time: 8:00 p.m. – Admission is free!

#3- Light Up Inman (A Family Affair)

Date: Dec. 2, 2011

Location: Downtown Inman, SC on Main and Mill Streets (see map)

Time: 7 p.m.-8 p.m. FREE!

Some stroll through Inman and enjoy the holiday lights, music, Santa Clause, shopping and light refreshments from some of the shops in town! A good time will be had by all!

#4-Songs of the Season (presented by District One Middle School Combined Chorus) For Senior Adults

Date: Dec. 6, 2011

Location: Chapman Cultural Center in the David Reid Theatre @ 200 East St. John Street Spartanburg, S.C.

Time: 11 a.m. – Admission is free, BUT Reservations are required and should be made by calling Ava Hughes @ 864.278.9693 to reserve your seat!

Come hear talented students from Landrum Middle School, Mabry Middle School, and Campobello Gramling choruses gathered on stage to help you ring in a joyous Christmas season!

#5-Choral Concert (presented by Spartanburg High School and District 7) for All Ages

Date: Dec. 12, 2011

Location: Chapman Cultural Center in the David Reid Theatre @ 200 East St. John Street Spartanburg, S.C.

Time: 7:00 p.m. – Admission is free!

Ring in the Christmas season with students from Spartanburg High School. Show your support by attending this free event!

#6- Kidzmas! (an event recommended for kids 4-12 and under) but all families are welcome!

Date: Dec. 17, 2011

Location: Spartanburg County Public Library (Main Headquarters) @ 151 S. Church St. Spartanburg, SC

Time: 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. FREE

From 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. families can roam around the two levels of the libraries enjoying decorated trees, twinkling lights, holiday music! In addition Santa and 2 of his reindeer which can be petted and fed will be there and Santa will take present requests from the children! Mrs. Claus’s kitchen will be open where children can decorate a gingerbread man. Children can also enjoy stepping into a 3-D Snowflake Cave during this time frame!

Beginning at 7 p.m. children and their families will gather together to hear Robert Sabuda discuss how he creates amazing pop-ups and read his version of The Night Before Christmas. Sabuda will give one pre-autographed book to each family (with a child present) at the close of his presentation!
