I take Zantac or Pepcid in the prescribed doses. Works for me.
CHEWABLE pepcid AC does alright and then there is always the basic stuff - stay away from fried foods, drinks with syrup (fruit juice), acidic foods and drinks (Orange juice and margaritas) and caffeine - chocolate bars. Good luck. Get at least 8 hrs of sleep and stay to avoid stressful situations as much as possible. Good Luck! From an acid reflux sufferer since 15 yrs old :( (and avoiding prescription medicines due to allergic reactions)
I have severe acid reflux and have dealt with it for 7 years now. And, I have tried everything over the counter I could get my hands on and nothing worked when I ate anything with lots of acid it (like tomato sauce and orange juice) and some that didn't have any acid in them (like bread). I found that the presciption Nexium is the best thing. But, I understand that not everyone has insurance and right now I don't either. What you can do (and this is what I'm doing) is get the over the counter stuff like pevacid or whatever and take a double dose. I find it helps although it won't always ease all the pain. But, it is better then nothing. Good luck. I know what you're going throw.
Watch your diet. Don't eat or drink at least two hours before bed. Sleep with your head and shoulder slightly elevated. If you lay on your side, then lay on your left side. This is what works for me, so I hope it helps you too.
try aloe Vera either in a pill form or liquid, both are available at Walmart and it heals the entire digestive system and helps reoccurring problems.
grandmas old cure is peppermint candy or peppermint candy canes.
prilosec
Prilosec and Famotidine were both previously available by prescription only and are now available over the counter at fairly reasonable prices. If you have acid reflux you need to treat it now before you develop Barrett's esophagus or cancer.http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/esophagusdisorders.html
Diet and ExerciseI have been sufering from GERD or Acid Reflux for about 7 years now and I noticed that when my weight went up the Reflux became much worse. Since I have changed my diet and started exercising I no longer need any medications for it.
its called gastroesophageal reflux or GERD-chew a stick of gum for about half an hour. That burning sensation you get is caused by stomach acid leaking into your esophagus.Chewing gum gets your saliva flowing and helps wash the acid away naturally. have u tryed mylanta? and y non persciption there r alot better 1s if u have a persciption
