I have DVT since march 1 06. Ultrasound doppler confirmed it in the Leg Calf. Since then I am on Warfarin.?

Q:August 4 06 another Doppler was taken. It shows only about 20% re canalisation. The INR is between 2.3 and 3. How long does it take 4 complete recanalisation? when could I re start playing Tennis and Trekking ? Thanks.

It epends on the strength of the med,for it to reach 4.If you are still being treated for a Deep Vein Thrombosis,you should not be on your foot very long and DEFINITELY not rub it.If it is still there you could dislodge the clot and it could travel to your lungs or heart.I would ask your physician about the trekking and tennis.Also I would find out for sure if you have the DVTstill.Be careful not to bump your self or fall or get hit by anything.The warfin thins your blood and can cause bleeding. I have taken care of patients on Warfin/Coumadin that has bleed to the point they had to be hospitalized. JRL-LPN

I have had several DVT. One fully recannalized (that one was in 8/2002) several months later, I got another one, that one never has recannulized. Nor has the one in my other leg.I have a clotting disorder called Antiphospholipid Antibody Syndrome. I am on Coumadin and aspirin life long.You probalby will be on Coumadin at least 3-6 months. You probably talk to your doctor before you go back to vigerous exercise. And consider wearing medical support host to help with circulation. Chances are you will be back to full activity in less than a month.Tips to watch for & follow while on anticoagulants are below also.
