How soon can you take Tylenol after taking Ibuprofen?
Q: I sometimes get severe menstural cramps from fibroids and I took Ibuprofen well, it isn’t cutting it and I am sweating from the intense pain. I have Oxycodone w/apap (tylenol) 10/325 that I received over a year ago from what the hospital thought was a kidney stone. It takes this pain away when nothing else does. Can I take one even though I took ibuprofen an hour ago. I am in so much pain and can’t take it anymore.
A: Call your doctor or go to urgent care NOW/STAT! You do not have to suffer such pain and it is not good for your overall health. Tell them you MUST have effective pain management NOW. Have the fibroids checked as there might be a change. There are specialized pain management teams of doctors. Request a referral. NOW please dear heart.
What is the toxicity of Oxycodone and Acetaminophen (Tylenol) (PERCOCET 5/325)?
Q: Just had my wisdom teeth cut out and I was wondering what the toxicity level of both these medications are. They are both in the pills the doctor gave me 30 percocet/endocet 5/325mg. So 5mg of oxycodone and 325mg of acetaminophen (tylenol).I was wondering how many I should be taking a day for the pain, I usually take 1 every 4 hours but doesnt seem to be enough sometimes so i take 1 and 1/4 every four hours sometimes.I was wondering what is safe and what is not I am 17 years old. Thanks in advance.I am around 5′ 9” weight 138 pounds as of one week ago. The doctor also gave me Motrin 400mg which I dont really take and phenogran 25mg for the nausea assosciated with the percocet. I take 1/4 tablet of phenogran every 4 hours or 1/2 tablet every 8 hours (i do the 1/4 most of the time).
A: A lot more has to be taken into consideration besides age. Your weight and general circumstances should also be considered. However, the usual dose is 1 to 2 tablets of the lowest strength (2.5 milligrams oxycodone/325 milligrams acetaminophen) every 6 hours. Doctors sometimes prescribe a higher dose if necessary. The total daily dose of acetaminophen should not exceed 4 grams. The maximum daily dose recommended for each strength of Percocet (oxycodone/acetaminophen) is as follows: 2.5 milligrams/325 milligrams: 12 tablets 5 milligrams/325 milligrams: 12 tablets 7.5 milligrams/500 milligrams: 8 tablets 10 milligrams/650 milligrams: 6 tablets
Safe dosage of tylenol during pregnancy?
Q: I am 31 weeks pregnant. A few days ago, I suddenly developed severe lower back pain which is preventing me from doing anything (sitting, walking, going to work) without dissolving into tears. I called my doctor and she recommended ice, the belly belt, and Tylenol. When I asked her what a safe dosage would be, she said to take 2 pills 2 times per day. Here’s the problem- my husband has been to several drugstores and no one sells regular Tylenol; it is all extra strength. I looked up the milligrams and regular Tylenol has 325 mg/pill while extra strength has 500 mg/pill. With the dosage she recommended, that would put me at 1300 mg/day for regular Tylenol. I’m trying to figure out if I can take 3 extra strength spread out through the day, which would put me at 1500 mg, only my doctor’s office is closed today through Monday. Has anyone spoken to the doctor about this that can pass along some info? Also, anyone know how many days in a row I can take this safely? The dr. told me “only as long as you need it” but I am afraid that will be for awhile. Thank you so much.To clarify, she said 2 pills 2 times per day (not 2 total.) I would much rather take nothing at all, but at this point the pain is absolutely horrific so I’m afraid I need it for the moment. Thank you for the suggestion about the generic- that is a great idea!!
A: I guess every doctor is different. Mine has said that 5 a day (500mg each) is fine, but not to take any more than that. I have been having extreme back pain in the middle of the night since I was 20 weeks which doesn’t let me get back to sleep and he has said that the three I treat it with plus 2 Tylenol PM before bed are fine. I manage to not do the 5 very often, if ever and many days lately have not even needed any but I think it is good to know the “safe” zone so you don’t have to worry.
