Symptoms right after flu vaccine?
Q: I decided to get the flu shot this year for the first time because I am working in the health care field. I don’t have anything to compare my symptoms to since it is my first one. I had the vaccine on Thursday morning and really didn’t have any sudden problems. I woke up Friday morning and had muscle aches all over from head to toe. Later on that afternoon I started having the following symptoms… dizziness, chills, hot flashes, weakness, fatigue, diarrhea, and a low grade fever off and on. I checked my symptoms online and it seems like the most common result was flu but I don’t have any kind of cough or congestion and haven’t been around anyone that has it. I did have a TB test done the day before having the flu shot. I was told by the nurse that it was ok to have both these vaccines back to back. I was wanting to know if anyone has had these side effects from the flu vaccine or if you think it could be a combination of the two vaccines. These symptoms have been going on for over three days. I have a doctors appointment this evening but I’m going crazy thinking about what could be the matter with me. Any help will be greatly appreciated. ThanksThank you for responding. I started thinking something really bad might be wrong with me after visiting webmd and other online sites.
A: Good question, I got my flu shot yesterday while doing my yearly flight physical..by last night I had the same symptoms…hot flashes, headache lasted all night….diarrhea last night and this morning, but I am starting to feel better now that I am up and going. I have had this reaction to the shot before…the feeling bad part is short lived..but the benefits are well worth it when you see people who didn’t get the shot suffer from full blown flu…Good luck…take it easy..it will pass
