Are there different types of Pediatric Surgeons?

Q: I was wondering, as I want to go on to become a doctor when I’m older, whether there where like different types of pediatric surgeons. Do they just specify in one field of the child like brain, heart, etc or do they do surgery in the entire anatomy of a child, baby and teens. If they do, does this happen with any other type of surgeon. Another thing is, do surgeons just do the surgery or do they get to diagnose what is wrong with the person and inform the patient with everything, if not who does?

A: In my early years of practice the pediatric surgeon was a jack of all trades, and a pretty good master of all. He or she did cleft palates, plastic repairs, chest work, abdominal and urologic surgery. They were especially skilled at repairing birth defects. Most of them did not do heart, or orthopedic surgery or neurosurgery, leaving that to specialists in those fields. Since about the early seventies, there has been a trend for various surgical specialties to sub-specialize in pediatrics, so you now have pediatric neurosurgeons, ENT, urologists, orthopedists, etc. As for the general pediatric surgeon, there is still plenty to do such as hernia repairs and a multitude of birth defects. Pediatric surgeons have also specialized into transplant and trauma surgery as well as other fields. Surgeons both diagnose and operate on the patient.

Do you need different types of medical insurance for long-term illnesses, long-term stays, cancer, surgery?

Q: Or is just a basic health insurance policy all you really need? Also why do hospital ER’s charge so much even just for nothing. Just to show up, get checked out, and be discharged in an hour for nothing, costs sommetimes about $1000+, and if you don’t have insurance , you’re just scr0wed.So I’m assuming that if something major DID happen to you, if you got diagnosed, or if you had cancer, heart problems, required surgery, or have something wrong with you long-term,are there other insurances which are beneficial for that?The insurance that I have is very good and they cover alot of expenses, and if they’re bad on anything it’s behavioral health, but they even offer hospice and other types of things.However, if I were to need to stay in a hospital for several days, months sometimes, or who knows, for more important things,…how would I be able to afford that, what type of insurance would I need for that?I want to plan ahead, because you never know, and I don’t want to end up getting suck with 1000000 bills that I cannot afford in the future.Thanks.Also why do doctors want you to keep coming back regularly, including specialists, if there’s nothing wrong with you?It’s like they want you to be sick and they want to keep “treating” you, but if you get better they lose business.And they mask/disguise this as a “well if you don’t come regularly, you’re just being cheap, or not taking your health seriously.”I’m sorry I just have so many problems with the medical field.

Is A Cardiovascular Surgeon a Rewarding Profession ???

Q: I know most of you are sick maybe from asking what are rewarding professions, but I want to enhance my learning experience on different types of surgeries, For example I know lots about the heart and would like to help somebody with a Vital Organ, so if any of you been to a Cardiovascular Surgeon. Know of one, or are one please tell me about a Cardiovascular Surgeon.
