What sickness is this? Can’t be just the flu, can it?
Q: Okay, so my boyfriend and I ended up getting the flu. He gave it to me about a week ago and he had it about 3 days before that. I just got over mine a day or so ago but the thing is, he isn’t getting any better. Last weekend, around when all of this started, he just had a sore throat and he had a dry cough, with no phlegm or anything. In the middle of the week, he started to have really bad headaches and a little bit of stomach aches. A day after that he said he felt a little better but his throat still hurt and he was still coughing pretty bad. Then the day after that he felt worse. He was achey all over and coughing harshly and often felt dizzy. Now just last night he still didnt feel any better, at all. In fact, every time he went into a coughing fit, he threw up a bit. He’s usually the nocturnal type of person but lately he’s been sleeping a lot and falling asleep much earlier than usual. Today, he isnt throwing up anymore but he said his skin is dry and his ankles, arms, hands, and legs are really itchy but he doesn’t have a rash, bumps, or anything. Just dry. He also said he’s really achey today again, and dizzy, but no fever today. I’m not sure if he had a fever any other day. What sickness is this? Can’t be just the flu, can it?Someone even said mono, but I highly doubt it.”this is deffinatly a ermergency room visit”-maybe not…. any other ideas?***Oh, and he’s also been having nose-bleeds every now and then.
A: this is deffinatly a ermergency room visit
Swine flu, can you tell if your getting it?
Q: I know the sheer volume of these questions is annoying but I am slightly worried I may have contracted swine flu. I know i’ve been around people who have had swine flu before or after I was in contact with them. I also work with the public on a large scale on any shift I could come in close contact with anywhere between 15 and 300people including people who end up in hospital (not because of me in most cases alcohol) I woke up this morning with a sore throat and I quickly had a headache to match as well as feeling quite sick (car sickness like feeling) and a light cold. You might think i’m worrying over nothing but I rarely have symptoms like this in fact I have never had the flu and have only ever had a ‘bad cold’ once not to mention that I have only had a hand-full of headaches which have lasted over three minutes let alone a whole day.I’m due back on shift tomorrow but I don’t know if I should go is there a chance i’m developing swine flu? would I be putting others at risk? Many thanks, 🙂
A: Recently I was told my 13 year old cousin might have the swine flu. All I know is that he was experiencing a temperature of over 101 and had body aches. I’ve heard that it’s a lot like the ordinary flu. However, since you have been in contact with swine flu it’s best if you get checked for it and when it’s available get the vaccine. Hope I helped.
Any good doctors out there, looking for a challange?
Q: 17 ½ yrs oldFemale130 lbs5’2”Asthmatic Severe AllergiesOkay so here’s my story… Summer of 08 I started to become a lot sicker than I ever had before. I’ve always been the girl that get’s the flu every year, gets any cold or cough I come in contact with but summer of 08 was different. I would go out with my friends and I just wanted to go home and sleep, I traveled to Texas to see some friends and the only thing I wanted to do was take naps during the day and I was constantly taking ibuprofen to attempt to get my three week long headache to go away. That week I started forgetting things that just happed, nothing like my name, but I would walk out of the room almost in tears and not twenty seconds later I forgot what I was crying about. I just wasn’t myself. I came home after a couple weeks visiting my friends and my headaches started to turn into migraines, I went to my family doctor he ordered some simple blood tests and said I was slightly anemic but it was nothing to worry about because evertyhign else was fine asked me to take some prenatal vitamins said it would help out a little. A couple weeks later I started school. I would come home from school and just want to sleep, my eyes were super sensitive to light and I would come home in tears. I couldn’t handle my workload in school with all that going on so I dropped my advanced classes, started missing classes, falling asleep in class, not getting all my homework done and it just wasn’t me because I’m the “smart girl” the girl who gets great grades, and people come to me for help. So I went back to my family doctor and when he saw me in pain he immediately started to worry, gave me a shot of medicine in my leg, but I can’t recall what it is at the moment, then gave me a prescription for viccodin and scheduled an MRI for two days later. I got home and Viccodin DIDN’T HELP, but they found three unidentified white lesions in my MRI said they were nothing to really worry about but I ended up going to a couple neurologists. I was on so many different medicines that just didn’t work, finally when I started crying in school because I was in so much pain my mom had enough, she took me to the hospital and they knocked me out with a few different medicines and told me to try 10 mg of amitriptyline HCI. Finally they found something that helped make my headaches not as bad, so they eneded up taking it to 30 mg of amitriptyline in the evenings. Still continueing that medicine I only had a couple headaches a week and only a 2-3 migranes a month, I was so greatful to the hospital. Still with fatigue almost daily some days just still wanting to sleep I didn’t really worry because I wasn’t in as much pain as before but a couple months passed by and it started getting worse. …this went on, and a year and a half we are still here….. Also here are some other things that have been happening lately… May have NOTHING to do with my sickness, but just incase I figured I would say something. I fall asleep all the time, I was at a stop light the other day not even tired, and I fell asleep at the stop light, to wake up to a car behind me honking, I trip and fall over my own feet all the time, even last night I went to sit on the couch and completely ened up on the floor. I go to walk around something and I end up walking into it instead. When I read, sometimes my words get all jumbled and I cant concentrate even on a simple sentence. I sleep sometimes16-20 hours a day, however it’s not always this bad and this just simply ISN’T me. I went to take an SAT and fell asleep in the middle of a section. My friends have been going out for almost a month and I haven’t gone ANYWHERE again just simply not me. I haven’t been to school in two weeks, I missed every single one of my exams. My headaches are coming back, and I just don’t want to be sick anymore. I don’t drink, ha take a teenager and ask that pretty sure not one will agree to it, but I promise you I’m not into drinking or drugs. I don’t really have the energy to do much more than necessary. Any opinion, advice, or even suggestions on what tests to have my doctors run id owe you big time. Thanks so much for reading practically a novel you don’t know how much help you could potentially be. Any further questions I’ll answer. A little background….I’ve been told I have vitamin D deficiency, so I take some vitamins and all is well About a week ago I tested positive for strep, an ear infection (I’m always getting sick)No family history of allergies, but I seem to have more food allergies than all people I know combined food and air both.No family history of illnesses, great grandmother is 95 and still healthy with the exceptions of glocoma (sp?) and other common elderly illnesses Mother and grandmother both had asthma but outgrew itCT scan of my sinus’s came out clear (done about two years ago)No history of migraines in my family No history of Cancer I bruise easily….No idea whyI’m ALWAYS sore, my back mhaha, well the details is what the question is. I’m fed up with going to see doctors, so i finally posted it online, i know it’s late, and no on ewill most likely read this. however, i figured id give it a shot, i know it’s a lot to read, but please, if you have medical background, read on.You are absolutely correct; I apologize if it is difficult to read. I do know how to read and write properly, I wrote this in a rush and very scattered.I’m no doctor either, but looking into fibromyalgia, doesn’t exactly sound like what i have. I dont have problems in my jaw joint, problems with my skin, numbness or tingling or depression. Thanks for the imput though.
