Why do I get light-headed when I work out?
Q: I drink plenty of water before, during, and after I work out. I also eat fruit and toast with sunbutter prior to a work-out but I still get dizzy when pumping weights? Is this normal or am I doing something wrong?
A: Pumping weights?… You need protein. Your muscles will demand it or you just won’t get anywhere. You can calculate what your body needs:How to Calculate Your Protein Needs: 1. Weight in pounds divided by 2.2 = weight in kg 2. Weight in kg x 0.8-1.8 gm/kg = protein gm. Use a lower number if you are in good health and are sedentary. Use a higher number (between 1 and 1.8) if you are under stress, are pregnant, are recovering from an illness, or if you are involved in consistent and intense weight or endurance training. 3. Example: 154 lb male who is a regular exerciser and lifts weights 154 lbs/2.2 = 70kg 70kg x 1.5 = 105 gm protein/day(That’s the basic math problem they give on many different websites that offer calorie counters and BMI calculators.) www.caloriesperhour.com is a good place to start. And thecaloriecounter.com is a good place to find actual numbers/nutritional info for the protein(s) you’ll be consuming.
Why am I always so dizzy and light-headed when I’m finished working out?
Q: Every time I work out I get dizzy and light-headed when I’m done. I know I’m not over working myself (at least, I don’t feel like I am) and I’m sure I’ve been eating enough. I usually eat between 1500 and 2000 calories a day. I’m 5’2 and 110lbs. Also, why am I always so darn hungry when I’m done working out?? Even if I’ve eaten before hand, I’m always starving when I’m done!Oh god no I’m not pregnant. I just had a baby 5 months ago and my husband and I are VERY careful 🙂
A: Your blood pressure might be off charts.. if you feel dizzy, you should see a doctor about this.. from past experience and advice, I was told if I get light headed to stop working out.
Why do I sometimes get light-headed when working out?
Q: After running around alot in volleyball practice. I felt like I was going to pass out and got dizzy. (Almost like the feeling you get when standing up after sitting down a long time). We were inside just doing some hard conditioning. Why did this happen and how can I prevent it?
A: this could mean two things; a) you’re dehydrated and/or b) you’re not getting enough calories to sustain you through these activities. try experimenting with both to see exactly what it is but i’m leaning towards the not enough calories theory. something as simple as drinking a protein shake before practice/running will help defeat this.
