Which provides a better overall cardio workout, a treadmill or an elliptical?
Q: I cannot run, only walk, but have used elliptical trainer in the past. I am considering buying one or the other for my to use in my home. Serious, well thought-out answers, please! Thanks
A: I would have to say the elliptical because if you can’t run and won’t to lose weight then you’re going to have to do some serious cardio. Using the elliptical allows you to have a very good workout without the stress on your joints that running produces. The other good thing with the elliptical is that you can change the intensity levels, the workout routines and the time which is awesome. Hope this helps out.
Would jumping rope be as effective (in terms of cardio, overall workout) as jogging is?
Q: thanks Mike…lol. i appreciate your enthusiasm…hehe =)
A: Yes!!!! Probably more so! I can run for 5 miles or more….but when I jump rope, I can only do it for 15 to 20 mins at a time. And I sweat a heck of a lot more, and “feel” a better cardio fat burn. So yes, yesy, YES! Jump rope!
Will overall cardio workouts and including weight training every week give u abs, or is crunches the ONLY way?
Q: I saw it on another question on here someone asked. I know you have abs underneath the fat. I mean u dont have to do 200 crunches to get sexy abs like some people say u have to to get that result do u??I hate doing crunches, even when i do it properly cause of what it does to ur neck n back.So i just wondered if by doing cardio workouts and having a weight training program will still give the same results?? thanks.
A: For most people, body fat percentage has to fall below 10% to have defined abdominals. Everyone has abs, it’s just that most people’s are covered up.Crunches and reverse crunches help to strengthen and tone your abdominals, so you should add those into a routine. Do side bridges and/or bicycle crunches; They are good for your obliques. I do not suggest sit-ups, as a lot of the time these can cause lower back pain, and can worsen pre-existing back problems. There are many types of ab exercises, but you only need to do 2-3 (for lower and upper rectus abdominis and obliques), and you don’t need to do that many repetitions of each.Strength training 3 days a week, with cardio, and good nutrition should do the trick. If you do not like cardio much, if you do calisthenics for 5 minutes, it’s the same benefit as a 30-minute bike ride. Calisthenics also can increase lean muscle mass, strength, and muscular endurance. The more muscle you have, the more calories you will burn. So therefor you would be killing two birds with one stone. Many will tell you you cannot gain muscle doing calisthenics because you cannot increase the weight to further challenge yourself. You can. Wear a backpack. Put heavy stuff in it.Good luck
