Homeschooling a child when you have the time isn’t a hard thing to do, but what about homeschooling multiple children? That isn’t so simple. If you have chosen or your children have chosen to do homeschooling rather than attending a public school with other children. Homeschooling is a great way for your kids to learn at their own pace. Here are some tips that will help you homeschool multiple children at different grade levels.
1. Always stick to a schedule.
This is most important. You need to make a schedule and stick to it. The best thing to do is a write out your schedule on a large piece of paper or poster board and hang it on a wall where every one will see it. This way, your children will know the schedule as well and you won’t need to tell them what to do and when to do it every single day. Your children will also get used to the schedule and it will be much easier when they cooperate and know what they should be doing rather than you having to tell them over and over again.
2. Schooling should always be done in the same room.
Try to make a room in your house into a classroom. Don’t just find a different place to do all your work everyday, you want to find a room that has a lot of space and no distractions to do your teaching. This way the kids can focus on their work rather than the TV.
3. Make rules.
Just like in real school, there should be rules. Such as:
-Your children can’t use their cell phones while they are working.
-Their work has to be done by a certain time, but try make sure they have plenty of time to complete their work since many kids choose homeschooling because they can’t keep up with the fast pace of school.
-No fighting.
-No yelling.
It’s important to make rules so your child will know that this should be taken seriously and they can understand that schooling is very crucial.
4. Stay organized.
You NEED to stay organized or you will make things much harder on yourself. Buy organizational tools that will help, such as a desk, folders, dividers, paper clips and much more. This way you can keep important documents safe. This is especially important if you are teaching a different grade levels. You don’t want to mix up any homework and study guides with the wrong children.
