Tim Tebow Inspired Horse “Tebow Gator” Upset by Witty Kitty

Tim Tebow has a lot of huge fans in the country after his brilliant playing days in college football.
But did you know there is a horse in Kentucky named after the former SEC great?

“Tebow Gator” looked to be the favorite horse of the sixth race entering the day at Ellis Park in Henderson, Kentucky. The horse, apparently named after that guy who played quarterback for the University of Florida, finished a dissapointing fourth in the Three Year Old and Upward race.

Longshot “Witty Kitty” instead claimed first place on a fast track and paid a whopping $87.20 to win.
Famed jockey Calvin Borel wasn’t even enough to help “Tebow Gator” cross the finish line first in the sixth race of the day. Borel, a former Kentucky Derby winner, typically seems to have his pick of the stronger horses given his incredible credentials. Unlike the current Tim Tebow NFL situation in Denver, there was little question whether “Tebow Gator” was going to start in this competition. In fact, “Tebow Gator” was the early favorite starter according to the Evansville Courier and Press sports page.

Tim Tebow, a first round draft pick, is currently on the Denver Broncos roster and will perhaps be the backup behind Kyle Orton as the season starts in the Mile High City. His namesake wasn’t strong enough to be in the top two on Sunday on a beautiful afternoon in Kentucky. Fans wondering what the latest news on Tim Tebow is might still have an interest in a horse named after the fabulous former SEC player. According to Equibase, “Tebow Gator” is owned by Janet Shulthise and trained by William G. Gowan. Similar to Tebow, the potential of “Tebow Gator” is still a very debatable topic in his respective sport.
