The Two Best Indie Movie Theaters in Ventura County

The bulk of movie theaters in Ventura County seems to be more worried about showing blockbusters than good, independent movies. And yeah, Los Angeles is nearby, but who wants to drive for an hour and sit in traffic to see that indie movie? Luckily, there are two stellar theaters in Ventura County that show almost soley indie movies. Those theaters are the Regenecy Westlake Village Twin and the Regency Paseo Camarillo Cinemas 3.

These theaters have the same owners, and their quality shows. The Regency Westlake Village Twin is a great theater with just two screens. They show current indie movies, but also focus occasionally on some cult classics (like John Hughes’ films) that they show at midnight. It has a great vibe, and the workers and audience members really give the theater a sense of community. The Twin has a great location next to all sorts of good food, so you can grab a nice dinner before the movie. Tickets are $10 for general admission, $7 for children and seniors, $8.50 for students, and $7.50 for matinee. The address is 4711 Lakeview Canyon Road in Westlake Village, and the phone number is 818.889.8061.

The Regency Paseo Camarillo is another great theater. It has three screens, along with a bigger lobby than the Twin. It is very similar to the Twin; it sometimes shows random midnight movies (like Rocky Horror Picture show on some Halloweens), surrounds you with film enthusiasts, and is right next to Wood Ranch, a food hot-spot. General admission is $9, senior and child $6, student $7.50, matinee $6.50, and they have a senior special for Wednesday when tickets are only $4 for matinees! It’s located at 390 North Lantana Street in Camarillo, in the Paseo Camarillo Shopping Center. The phone number is 805.383.2267.

Enjoy seeing your favorite movies and supporting a great theater (or two!) while you do!
