The Side Effects of Antidepressant Medications

There are a good amount of commercials and magazine ads for anti depressants lately. It seems that a lot of people are suffering from depression and are looking to find help for their symptoms.

Some doctors are quick to prescribe antidepressant medications to try and help relieve the symptoms of depression. What those doctors sometimes fail to mention, is that there are a lot of risks and side effects associated with taking these medications.

Browsing through my magazine, I saw an ad for an antidepressant. While reading the advertisement, I read so many side effects and risks that it almost took up the entire page.

One of the risks mentioned in the ad was very serious. It said that it may increase suicidal thoughts and tendencies in teens and young adults. As a young adult, I would not want to take that risk. I want something that is going to help me get rid of suicidal thoughts, not possibly increase them.

I have been on antidepressants and have not found them to be successful in treating my depression. Everyone is different. What may not work for me, may work for someone else. However, I experienced many side effects with each antidepressant medication I took.

The side effects outweighed the benefits. I told my doctor about the side effects. He told me to gradually taper off of the medications. You do not want to go cold turkey and just stop taking the medication. It could cause even worse side effects, like withdrawal.

Even when I tapered off of the medications, I still experienced withdrawal side effects. The side effects were so bad, at one time, I thought that I was dying. I didn’t realize it was the effect of the medication until it happened to me each time I tapered off of the medications. It took many months to taper off.

Some of the side effects I experienced were excessive fatigue and tiredness throughout the day. I also experienced severe irritability and anger, nausea and a feeling of electric shock in my arms which caused me to constantly feel that I had to move my arms.

The medications I took did not help me with my depression. In fact, they made my depression worse because I was so tired when I was taking them and I felt as if I was dragging through the day.

Other people I have spoken with about their experience with antidepressant medications, have told me that they also had experienced some of the same side effects as I did. My neighbor told me that she experienced hallucinations while taking antidepressant medications.

If you are planning on taking an antidepressant, you should be aware of the risks and side effects of these medications. While some people may not experience side effects, the majority of people I know who have taken antidepressants, have experienced some pretty bad effects. The side effects made them want to stop using the medication.

I am currently treating my depression with vitamins and natural supplements. The two main supplements I take are Omega 3 and Vitamin D3. I have experienced no side effects from any of these supplements. On top of that, they are healthy for my body. I am not ingesting a chemical drug, which could eventually cause harm to my body in the long run.

I also feel that these supplements have helped my depression much more than any antidepressant I have ever been on. I would recommend natural supplements as a treatment option for depression before going on an antidepressant.

If you are suffering from depression, I’m not saying that you shouldn’t take an antidepressant. That is your choice. I am saying that natural remedies may work well for you without the risks and side effects of antidepressant medication.
