‘The Bachelor:’ Something’s ‘Fishy’ About Courtney

This week on “The Bachelor,” resident villain Courtney turned up the competitive heat. And she channeled her inner Charlie Sheen by focusing on “winning.”

The group date included a nature excursion in Park City, Utah. Lindzi the outdoorsy girl loved the horseback-riding segment of the date, but didn’t do so well with the fishing. For some inexplicable reason, Courtney was able to catch a fish. She used this as an opportunity to cozy up to “Bachelor” Ben with her cutesy baby talk.

That fish was not the only thing she caught that day. She seems to have Ben wrapped around her finger.

Courtney is possibly one of the worst “Bachelor” villains we’ve seen in awhile. Vienna Girardi was a vindictive mean girl, but at least she actually seemed to have real feelings for Jake Pavelka. And Michelle Money was vicious with her trash talk, but you always had the sense that it wasn’t malicious and that she was just trying to be funny.

Courtney is openly condescending and vicious towards the other women, but shows another side towards Ben. Unfortunately, he’s not going to see the light anytime soon because these women seem to be shooting themselves in the foot.

Kacie B. seems to be suffering from the Great First Date curse. After making an early connection with Ben, she’s frazzling because she’s seeing him form other connections. Kacie is a sweet down-to-earth girl, but she was starting to show some insecurity (which could come back to bite her later on).

And Emily shot herself in the foot by not knowing when to keep her mouth shut. She used her one-on-one time to warn Ben that Courtney was not who she appeared. Unfortunately for her, Ben took it as an insult that she had questioned his judgment. She made matters worse by going to Casey S. (Courtney’s minion) about her concerns.

Once word got back to Courtney, we knew that she would use it to her advantage. She will play up the sympathy card with Ben and make it appear as if she is the one who is being persecuted.

On some level, Ben and mean Courtney are a good match. We’re learning that Ben is not the nice guy he appeared to be on Ashley’s season. We saw that with the way he told the media how he “turned down” Jennifer Love Hewitt.

And this week, he was pretty disrespectful towards Samantha. She had expressed concerns that she had only been on group dates and wondered when she was going to receive a one-on-one. He sent her home, accusing her of being too emotional and impatient while the others were patiently waiting their turn. She may have been insecure, but her concerns were legitimate. She didn’t deserve to be treated that way!

in the end, Ben sent Samantha and Monica home. I was a bit surprised at how hard Monica took the elimination. In the past few weeks, she never seemed particularly interested in Ben, nor did she make much of an effort. In fact, she seemed more interested in girls that she was in Ben!
