Sheamus Wins the 2012 Royal Rumble

Sheamus entered the Royal Rumble at number twenty two. He outlasted the remaining Superstars to earn himself a Championship Match at WrestleMania XXVIII. Sheamus will most likely challenge for the World Heavyweight Championship. The WWE Championship is suppose to be defend in the Match between John Cena and The Rock. For that to happen, Cena needs to win the WWE Championship before WrestleMania. Even if the WWE decides to go a different route with the WWE Championship, I doubt Sheamus will challenge for it. If Cena and The Rock are not fighting for the WWE Championship, it will most likely be CM Punk and Chris Jericho facing off to determine who will be ‘The Best In The World’. Thus leaving Sheamus to challenge for the World Heavyweight Championship.

Were you surprised that Sheamus won the Royal Rumble? I was more disappointed than surprised, in my article titled “Who Will Win the 2012 Royal Rumble?” I had the following to say about Sheamus “Sheamus is not ready for the World Heavyweight Championship. Since moving to SmackDown he has not made much of an impact. It seems like the WWE is unsure of what to do with Sheamus. After capturing two WWE Championships he seems to be going backwards. At this time it does not look like the WWE has any plans to have him move forward.” I was more disappointed with Sheamus winning because he does not seem like a threat to me anymore. Sheamus had two WWE Championships under his belt, than the WWE had him go backwards and win the United States Championship. Since that time I have never thought of Sheamus as a Main-Event Superstar.

Do you think Sheamus is a Main-Event Superstar and the WWE made the right move by allowing Sheamus to win the Royal Rumble or should they have let another Superstar win?
