Review: Mama Cozzi Garlic Breadsticks

A couple nights ago, my wife and I decided to have a simple spaghetti dinner because we already had the pasta and all we needed was a jar of sauce. While at the store picking up the sauce, my wife decided to look for side dishes to go with it. She originally was just going to get stuff for a salad. But, after some consideration, decided to buy a box of garlic breadsticks from the Mama Cozzi brand.

When I first saw these, I honestly wasn’t overly thrilled by this purchase. Part of this was the fact we were on a somewhat tight budget and really couldn’t afford to be spending money on extras. The other part of it is I have had other items from the Mama Cozzi brand before and, while there were some items I liked, there were plenty of others that I honestly wasn’t that thrilled with.

After trying these breadsticks, I’m still not sure they were worth the money.

I’m going to be fair and start out by saying they weren’t the worst breadsticks I have ever tried. I have definitely had plenty of other brands that offered much less in terms of overall quality. And, since I did burn them while making them (my wife and I have a problem with that lately), I did try to give them the benefit of the doubt and even made another one the next day to be sure.

There were two things I didn’t like about these breadsticks. First, they were hard. I’m OK with a crisp outer crust. But, once I bite into a breadstick I pretty much expect it to be softer. That wasn’t the case with this brand and I’m confident that has to do with the breadsticks themselves and not me baking them.

Another thing I didn’t like about this product was, for something that was supposed to be a garlic breadstick, I honestly could not taste that much garlic. The breadsticks were actually pretty bland tasting and I was unimpressed with them as a result. Let’s put it this way, I had leftover spaghetti last night and made no effort to make one of these to go with it.

This is a cheaper brand of breadsticks and, because of that; I can say I got my money’s worth from them. However, I doubt this is a brand I would buy again; at least not if I have any other options.
