A couple days ago, I had to run to the grocery store for a couple things we needed. Even though I made an effort to just buy the things I came for, I once again made the mistake of shopping on an empty stomach and wound up with more items in my cart as a result.
One of the things I ended up buying was a box of Little Debbie Caramel Cookie Bars. Obviously, this was not something that was on my original list and, in fact, I didn’t even know they existed until I walked past one of the end displays. I tried to ignore them at first, but I ultimately turned around and picked up a box.
I’m not really sure what attracted me to this product. Even though I like chocolate, I’m not really that big of a caramel fan and, at least from the box, the cookies looked as though they had a lot of caramel in them. I’m chalking this purchase up to me being hungry because, if I had a full stomach at the time, I probably wouldn’t have bought them.
Regardless of the reason, I’m glad I made this purchase.
As I said before, I was a bit concerned about whether or not I would like these cookies because, from the picture on the box, I thought they had too much caramel in them. That, however, was not the case. There was plenty of caramel. But, it was in an acceptable quantity; enough to give the cookie a different kind of sweet taste without being too chewy.
That, combined with the sweet chocolate coating and the fact the cookies have just the right amount of crispness (enough to give them a bit of a crunch without being too hard) made these one of the better cookie varieties I have had recently.
In fact, I liked these cookies so much (and I’m a little ashamed to say this), I almost ate the entire box by myself. I think my wife and oldest daughter each had one and I shared part of one with my youngest daughter but had the rest. I don’t normally do that so that should show you how surprisingly good these ended up being.
I’m not sure if this is just a seasonal cookie option from the Little Debbie brand or something you can buy year round but, if you have not tried these cookies, I recommend picking up a box of them.
