Photos Serve as Pivotal Plot Devices on ‘The Lying Game’

This week’s episode of “The Lying Game” focused on the events leading up to homecoming. Two photos served as pivotal plot devices.

An Old Photo

The homecoming committee had asked for old photos for memorabilia. Ted (Andy Buckley) inexplicably tore a photo out of an old album and hid it in a pile of magazines. It turned out to be a high-school photo of Annie (the birth mother of Sutton and Emma) with Ted and Alec (Adrian Pasdar).

Emma realized that her adoptive father knew her birth mother. And Kristen (Helen Slater) is obviously in the dark about Annie’s identity and whereabouts.

A New Photo

Mean girl Nisha (Shannon Pierre-Louis) had captured an incriminating photo of Mads (Alice Greczyn) coming onto Eduardo (Rick Malambri). And she took full opportunity to send the photo to Alec. Although Alec realized Eduardo was not stupid enough to hit on an underage girl, he realized Eduardo had been in their house while he lied to the hospital that Sutton (Alexandra Chando) was a gold-digger and to not let her near Annie.

I smell future trouble for this dance instructor!

Drawings/Paintings

We learned that Emma (Alexandra Chando) is a fine artist, and she suspects she gets this trait from her birth mother. We viewers later see that Annie is in a mental hospital where she spends her days painting starry nights and little girls.

Is she really crazy or is Alec just locking her up in order to keep her quiet? Why is it so important that Sutton not find her? Could Ted be Sutton and Emma’s biological father? Was there foul play involved in the fire?

Two Kisses

Ethan (Blair Redford) and Sutton had a falling out because he realized she would never go public with their relationship. He later decided to join Emma on the homecoming dance floor, and they sealed it with a long-awaited kiss.

Seeing the homecoming photos online, Sutton retaliated by kissing (and doing possibly more) with Thayer (Christian Alexander). I’m surprised she even needed visual evidence that Emma had kissed Ethan. What happened to their “Twinsense?” In any case, sexual tension had been brewing between Sutton and Thayer for awhile, so I’m not sure it was entirely about revenge.

Hot New Guy

Laurel (Allie Gonino) and Justin (Randy Wayne) seem to be moving forward in their relationship, but we viewers get the sense he’s hiding something. It seemed a bit strange that he “accidentally” tipped the guitarist $50, leaving Laurel to pay the bill.

As usual, this episode of “The Lying Game” leaves the viewers with more questions than answers. Can’t wait until next week!
