How to Make Tea Clay

Tea clay is a light brown to tan clay with small brown lines throughout. This gorgeous clay is easy to make and keeps in the refrigerator for several weeks when placed in an air tight container. Make homemade beads, ornaments and other adornments with a natural glow.

Things You’ll Need:

Used tea bags or 1-cup tea leaves
1-cup flour
½-cup cold tea
½-cup salt
1-tablespoon antiseptic mouthwash
Mixing bowl
Mixing spoon
Air tight container

Instructions:

Step 1 – Allow the used tea bags to dry. Open the bags and pour the tea leaves into a 1-cup measuring cup.

Step 2 – Pour the tea leaves, flour, cold tea, salt and antiseptic mouthwash into a mixing bowl. Mix the ingredients thoroughly. The consistency will be that of playdough when complete. Add more flour if too thin and more cold tea if too thick.

Step 3 – Place the tea clay in an air tight container until ready to use.

Bake completed tea clay items at 250 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 minutes per ¼-inch of thickness.
