Home Remedies to Remove Gum Stuck in Your Hair

Who in this world has not experienced a situation like this during their childhood, and even older? It is very common to find this situation where a little girl with long hair is crying because her beautiful hair has been attacked by a piece of gum. Fearing the worst, her mother cuts her hair a little too short, and sadly the girl loses her beautiful hair.

But there is good news. It is possible to remove chewing gum using home hair remedies. Some are more effective than others, but all seem to remove chewing gum after some work and patience. Of course, the easiest and most effective remedy is to simply cut the lock of hair, but if yu don’t want to do that, the most effective home remedy to remove gum is cooking oil.

To remove the gum, the lock of hair with gum stuck to it should be separated from your other hair. Pour enough cooking oil at room temperature to the gum to start to get rid of it. The gum will adhere to the oil and peel off the hair. With the help of a toothbrush, you can slowly start peeling the gum to remove it entirely.

Another home remedy that is a bit less efficient but may eventually remove chewing gum stuck in hair is using ice cubes. This freezes the gum and you can start removing it piece by piece after it’s hard. But it doesn’t work as well as oil.

Finally, a home remedy to remove gum from hair, is to use alcohol. Of all the remedies, this is the least efficient of all. Plus, it will dry your hair and scalp.
