Tasty Sugar Cookies

This sugar cookie recipe simple to make, and bake up in less than ten minutes. They come out thin and crispy, and can be decorated before baking with colored sugar, or frosted once they’ve cooled. Either way, they are simply are a tasty sugar cookie. This recipe makes 4 dozen sugar cookies.

5 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
2 teaspoons baking soda
3 cups confectioners sugar
1 cup butter (softened)
1 egg
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
½ teaspoon almond extract
Colored sugar and sprinkles

Cream together butter, egg and extracts. In a separate bowl, combine dry and ingredients and slowly incorporate into butter mixture. Cover with plastic wrap and store in refrigerator overnight.

On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to 1/8″ thickness. Cut cookies into shapes with cookie cutters and place on an ungreased cookie sheet. Sprinkle the cookies with colored sugar or sprinkles (omit this step if you will be frosting the cookies instead) and bake at 375 for 7 – 9 minutes. Cool on wire rack.

Easiest Sugar Cookies Ever!

These sugar cookies are spread evenly on a cookie sheet and baked in one large batch. Talk about easy! They are thin and crispy, and have a delicious flavor.

¾ cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup melted butter
1 tbsp milk
1 ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
½ cup vegetable oil
1 egg
1 ½ cups all purpose flour
1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons orange rind
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Colored sugar or sprinkles

Cream together butter, oil, sugar, milk, vanilla, and egg. Add in all other ingredients and pour batter on a cookie sheet. Spread evenly. Sprinkle with colored sugar or sprinkles and bake at 375 for 10 – 12 minutes. Cool completely and cut into bars.

Orange-Sugar Cookies

This sugar cookie recipe requires no rolling, and they have a hint of orange flavor. Absolutely delicious and very simple to make.
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup powdered sugar
1 cup melted butter
1 cup vegetable oil
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
2 eggs
4 ¼ cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda

Cream together sugars and melted butter until smooth. Mix in oil, eggs and vanilla. Slowly add all other ingredients and cover with plastic wrap. Refrigerate overnight.

Remove dough from refrigerator and pull apart into small balls (about 1″). Place the dough balls on a cookie sheet and flatten with the palm of your hand. Sprinkle with colored sugar and bake at 375 for 5 – 8 minutes. (If you would rather frost the cookies, omit the colored sugar).

Traditional Sugar Cookies

This sugar cookie recipe is a classic. They turn out just like the ones your mother used to make!

1 ½ cups sugar
2 tablespoons milk
2/3 cup melted butter
2 eggs (lightly beaten)
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
3 ¼ cups all purpose flour
2 ½ teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon salt

Cream together butter and sugar until smooth. Add milk, eggs and vanilla. Stir well. Add in the flour, baking soda and salt. Shape into one large ball and cover with plastic wrap. Refrigerate overnight.

Roll dough out on a floured surface till about 1/8″ thick. Cut dough into shapes with cookie cutters and place on a cookie sheet. Sprinkle with colored sugar and bake at 400 for 7 – 8 minutes

Simple Sugar Cookies

This sugar cookie recipe only calls for a few ingredients, so it’s quick and easy to throw together. No rolling dough, no cutting dough….just cut and bake!

1 ¼ cup confectioners sugar
1 cup butter (melted)
1 egg (lightly beaten)
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
2 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/8 teaspoon salt

Cream together melted butter and sugar. Add egg and vanilla, stir until smooth. Combine all other ingredients and shape into two ‘log’ rolls. Wrap the sugar cookie dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least one hour. Remove one roll from the refrigerator and cut dough into ¼” slices. Place on ungreased baking sheet and bake at 350 for 8 – 10 minutes. Repeat process with remaining cookie roll.
