A Mom’s Review of Secret Clinical Strength Deodorant for Sensitive Skin

Something interesting happened when I had kids; I began to resemble a construction worker in 90-degree heat. In fact, it seems like ever since I gave birth to my first child, I have been constantly sweaty from hormonal changes, endless hours of chauffeuring kids to school and sports practices, cooking, cleaning or just plain running around after the kids. This just wasn’t something I had bargained for. Stretch marks, yes, giving up wearing white shirts because of embarrassing wet pit stains, no.

So, I became something of a deodorant connoisseur, trying nearly every brand on the market. When women’s deodorant didn’t make the grade, I resorted to using men’s deodorant. While these cured my wetness problem, they did not exactly make me feel like a lady. Then, I took on prescription deodorant; not only did they irritate my skin, but I just couldn’t seem to get past the nagging feeling that I was overcomplicating things. I mean, shouldn’t this whole staying dry and fresh smelling thing be easier than all this? This is why I was excited when I was given the opportunity to try out Secret’s new Clinical Strength deodorant for sensitive skin.

Application
Secret Clinical Strength is a cream that you apply by clicking the bottom of the applicator. The cream then comes up through holes in the top of the applicator. I’m not a fan of this type of deodorant. This is mainly due to the fact that the potential waste factor is high. If my kids get their hands on it, a whole cream deodorant can quickly and easily be wasted. That’s hard to take with the $8 price tag attached to Secret Clinical Strength. Also, deodorant cream isn’t very easy to remove from carpeting, as I can testify. It would be nice if Secret Clinical Strength was offered in a solid form. However, this isn’t enough to deter me from buying it.

Secret Clinical Strength was designed to be applied at night, utilizing “your body’s natural temperature variations.” This seemed a bit odd to me at first, but I quickly adapted. It was nice to wake up smelling fresh, especially on those mornings when I was running around frazzled trying to get everyone fed and out the door on time.

Scent
Secret Clinical Strength had a pleasing scent, not overly strong, flowery or musky, and very definitely feminine. In fact, after a few minutes of wear, the scent was barely noticeable. I just smelled clean and fresh.

Effectiveness
If there’s one item every busy mom needs in her arsenal, it’s an effective deodorant. I need a deodorant that works the first time I put it on. Nothing I have used in the past few years has worked for me all day for keeping wetness at bay. In fact, I have resorted to carrying a sample size deodorant in my purse for touch ups in case I got sweaty. The best thing I can say about Secret Clinical Strength is that it kept me dry all day, literally from shower to shower. I didn’t have to reapply and I didn’t get embarrassing wet marks on the armpits of my shirts anymore. That has never happened with any other deodorant I have used, with the exception of the prescription deodorant.

Sensitive Skin
I have had issues in the past, especially while using prescription deodorants, with underarm irritation and flaking. I have only been wearing Secret Clinical Strength for five days, but by now I would normally be seeing irritation with other deodorants. Secret Clinical Strength has caused no irritation at all.

The Secret Guarantee
As a mom, I love a guarantee. It proves to me that the makers of a product are confident in their claims. Secret Clinical Strength includes a money back guarantee on the side of the box. The people at Secret really know how to put a smile on this thrifty mom’s face.

Overall Results
I absolutely loved Secret Clinical Strength and would buy it in a heartbeat, even given the $8 price tag. It is as effective as prescription deodorants without the harshness. I have a feeling that this deodorant could get me back into some light colored shirts this summer, minus the pit stains.

I received the product for free and was compensated for my review.
