Originally i think because weed was a threat to certain industries so they did a little campaign to educate the public that it was the tool of the devil. Its no worse than alcohol in that respect thats for sure.

Q: I heard from a friend last month that the anime series Ginga Densetsu Weed was rumored to be coming to America, is this true?

A: That would be incredibly cool, but I have to say that it doesn’t seem terribly likely. :(GDW isn’t exactly the “kid-friendly” brand of animation that most American companies promote. Unless it’s subbed and becomes somewhat popular it probably won’t be put on television (like Naruto and Bleach). To be honest I’d be afraid of what they might do to GDW if they brought it here- I bet they’d try to cut out the most violent scenes and possibly massacre the plot. >cough< 4kids! >cough<. Gingasite.net tends to have a good grip on all rumors on Takahashi’s works; you can always surf their forums to see what they know. :)(BTW, Weed is my second fav. series; Yu-gi-oh season 0 being the first. That YGO wouldn’t ever be brought here, let me tell ya ;).
