She has to really want to do it for herself before anything else. I’m not sure of many ways to help convince her that she needs to quit. Hopefully she’ll be able to quit .

How do I get my mom to quit smoking?
Q: I’m 14 and my mom smokes cigarettes. She quit for a while got back into it again, heavy. What are some things or little facts I could tell her to make her realize she needs to quit? I’m worried about her health, I don’t want to lose her.
A: Does she hide her ashtray and whatnot or?If you know where it is, I think maybe it would be a good and thoughtful idea to write her a little note with how you feel about her smoking and set it where she will see it like on the ashtray. Maybe write something along the lines of you care about her and do not like to see her do things like that to herself. It would be nice to tell her you will help her and give her support to quit. 🙂
How can my dad and I help my mom quit smoking?
Q: My dad quit smoking when I was 4. He just… stopped. My mom still smokes. My aunts and my cousin have all stopped recently. My grandma asks me every time I see her “When are you going to get her to quit smoking?”I’ve tried to tell her about lung cancer, tar, etc… but she won’t listen to it. She says that she knows about all of that. I just don’t know what to do anymore. Neither does my dad. Help? I don’t want to lose her at a young age…
A: You can get her help, take her cigarettes, or simply talk to her, but nothing is going to matter until she wants to help herself. She has control of her own actions and you can’t make her stop if she doesn’t want to. I don’t know what you could tell her. Perhaps try to make her feel bad by telling her that you don’t want to lose her because of smoking – it sounds like the consequences of smoking have no effect on her. If it comes to it, tell her that you’re giving up. Tell her that you’ve tried and tried, but she won’t listen, so you are giving up. Say that you want to help her but she won’t let you. Tell her that she needs to want to help herself.
How can I get my mom to quit smoking? (please provide how to convince her, and the ways she can)…?
Q: My mom has been smoking since she was young and I keep telling her she should quit. She always says that she will and that she know she needs to and she will soon, but I have never seen her try to quit in the 16 years I’ve lived. What can I do to convince her? I was thinking about printing out information about different ways to quit, but I have no idea where to start. Could someone help me out with that too? Please, help me if you can.
A: I totally can relate to you.I lost my mother when I was only 24 years old because of smoking. She suffered so badly. It is a terrible way to die.She went from a vibrant 125 pound women to a 63 pound skeleton within 2 months. You do not want your mother to end up that way.I used to smoke too and when i watched my mom fade away i quit and never started again.Tell your mother to please try anything and everything to try to quit now I did it cold turkey and i was a heavy smoker. You really don’t need to light up a cigarette its only in your head.I haven’t smoked in over 9 years and feel so much healthier and better.Show your mom my answer and if you can search on line try to find some graphic photos of people damaged lungs due to smoking maybe if she sees it right in front of her she will hopefully think twice before lighting up one of those cancer sticks again. Also there may be a hospital in your area that has patients who are dying of lung cancer you should see if you can go visit them to put your mom face to face with the fact of how smoking cigarettes can really kill you.Second hand smoke is really bad for you so she is hurting both of you!!!Don’t give up on her.Good Luck & God Bless.
