Canker sores from chewing tobacco?
Q: Okay guys, i have 2 canker sores from chewing tobacco in the same place on my lip for awhile, since then, i switched to the other side, as this side was too raw for me to place a dip (it burned) but i was wondering, i have 2 canker sores on my lip, one larger one on my lip, and one smaller one by the base of my gumline, i know these arent cancerous, as canker sores are benign, and also, cancerous bumps are hard, these are puss filled apparently. So i was wondering how long these will take to dissapate? Im doubting this is a serious problem, since ive only chewed 2 cans of Skoal, and cancer takes alot more time then that to develope, but right now i just finished 2 cans, and i have one left, so will packing a dip while i have these canker sores make them worse? also, after this last can, im done with the stuff, my friends even tell me that its very addictive once it has you by the balls. Please answer my questions guys, not badger me about the habit, Thank Yous!
A: The chewing tobacco is definitely irritating your mouth. If you continue to use it, the sores aren’t likely to go away. If you stop using for 2 weeks and the sores are still there, get them checked out by a health care professional.
Does this look like mouth cancer to you?! Help!?
Q: Hey I was wondering if this looks like mouth cancer to any of you. I would prefer answers from doctors or people who have some kind of experience in that field. I have probably only smokes maybe 3 full packs of cigarettes by myself in my lifetime and maybe a dozen cigars and a dozen black and milds. I’ve only done long cut vanilla skoal (chewing tobacco) 2-3 times also. This has all been spread on and I do not do it on a normal occasion. Here are some pictures let me know what you think? Please don’t scare me with bad answers I’m only turning 17 in a couple months and decided to stop it all last week.P.S. This just began to occur roughly 2 or 3 days ago. It’s on my right upper lip on the inside and it just feels rough and dry kinda like a small grain sand paper. idk.http://s491.photobucket.com/albums/rr276/kstew7192/Mouth%20Cancer/
A: No.Your gums are pink and healthy. The dryness sensation is from your tongue tip not the actual mouth. The way to test this is to run your fingers around your mouth. This is an illusion that gets created when you wear a certain area, for whatever reason, more than other parts of the mouth.
Cheek/mouth biting & chewing habit.?
Q: I have chewed little bits from the inside of my mouth & lips for as long as I can remember. I have been getting worried about this lately as I keep thinking it might cause cancer from repeatedly damaging the inside of my mouth. I seem to do it a lot when I’m driving and get a bit stressed, or if I am reading and I feel like I cant sit quiet. Any advice for trying to stop this? Or any opinions on if it is actually causing me any long term damage? I have resorted to asking my boyfriend to monitor me and stop me when I don’t realise I’m doing it! HELP! 🙂
A: Well, me my mother and all my siblins have this habit. My mother was doing it all her life- she’s 51 and has NO cancer. It’s not big threat to my knoweldge and we all do it for the same reasons as you and sometimes I do it knowingly because I feel the line on my gums that my teeth make when they are close and I intentionally nip it off. But the cells grow back in no time. Like rgiht now as I type I am nipping away. Its fun and it calms our nerves ya know so just nip away..unless your burdened by it you can go to the dentist and see it they could give you some time of retina or something to block your teeth from getting to your gum but I doubt it… best wishes my fellow nipper!
