Q: I wonder how people with degenerative arthrosis also known as degenerative arhtritis or degenerative osteoarthritis, have deal with the unbearable pain and work. Have this condition stop you from working ? How can I return to work, and with what medications to kill the severe pain on my feet and knees joints ? I dont want to become bedwritten, Im only 29 years old and already have Degenerative Arthrosis on my both feet & both knees, periostitis atributed to enthesopathy, tendinitis, synovitis,crps, rsd, a fracture on my foot that havent healed yet in 5 years since it happened, etc, not to mention the depresion this have caused me, but im not giving up yet. Althouht im in a lot of constant severe pain, I will like to know if this condition will get less painfull with time or if is going to get worst and what can I do, since doctors are afraid to give straight answers on this questions. Anyone suffering from any of this conditions, I will appreciate any comments on this. Thanks.I dont think that baking brownies with marihuana is for me...lol. A: My deepest sympathy. I'm 49 and have osteoarthritis. Too many years of joint damaging sports. I use heating pads, a hot tub, a physiotherapist/Chiroprator and a good NSAID (Aleve). I find the problem is agravated with life style choices. Ensuring I am well hydrated, back off the booze and moderate non-impact excercise (walking, swimming) tends to help.Best of luck, getting old is not for sissy's.
Does anyone know what enthesopathy means?
Q: I went to the chiropractor yesterday, and he put something in the diagnosis area of my receipt that I have never seen before, and of course I didn't notice it til after I was home and he'd closed for the day! It says sacroiliitis (which I already knew I had) and "enthesopathy of hip". I did searches, which were about as clear as mud. Some mentioned tendonitis, some mentioned spondylarthropathies, and auto-immune diseases in general. That one kind of worried me, because I DO have undifferentiated spondylitis in the lower levels of my spine. It has me worried that it's worsening, and may possibly be turning into ankylosing spondylitis. That scares me because I'm only 38 and have a 13 1/2 month old son. Can anyone shed light on just what this term generally means when dx'ed by a chiropractor?I didn't think about it, but I guess I should add some of my medical history if it helps any. I have the previously mentioned sacroiliitis and undifferentiated spondylitis, Fibromyalgia, Myofascial Pain Syndrome,radiculopathy (lower back), and facet joint syndrome. It just worries me whenever something else gets tacked onto my already long laundry list of medical problems, especially without explanation.
A: The answers that were given were correct. I would like you to try these two movements to see if they stop your complaints. If they work you are not going to need to see anyone as your back will resettle itself. Sit in a chair and keep the hips and feet planted while turning your body to the left as far as it can go. Note the distance traveled and then go to the right and note how far you turn. One direction is going to turn further so start in that direction first. Turn in that direction as hard and far as you can for 30 seconds and then rest for 15 seconds. Repeat that movement twice more in that direction and then after the rest period do the opposite direction exactly the same way 3 times. Raise the left arm up as high as it can go and note the height. Return the arm to the side and now do the right arm and note the height. One arm is going to elevate higher so start with that arm. Raise that arm up as hard and high as you can for 30 seconds and then rest for 15 seconds. Repeat that twice more and then after the rest period do the opposite arm exactly the same way 3 times. Get up and move around. There should be less pain and more mobility present. Do these movements at least twice a day. You can also add these other movements if you wish. Turn the head to the left as far as you can and note the degree of rotation. Turn the head to the right as far as you can and note the degree of rotation. One direction is going to turn further so start there. Turn the head in that direction as far and hard as you can for 30 seconds and then rest for 15 seconds. Repeat this twice more and then after the rest period do the opposite direction exactly the same way. Lastly, bring the Left knee up as close to the Right shoulder as possible without the use of the arms. Next do the Right knee up as close to the Left shoulder as possible again without any assistance. One combination will get closer so start with that one. Bring that knee up as close to the opposite shoulder as possible for 30 seconds and then rest for 15. Repeat twice more and then do the opposite combination exactly the same way 3 times. Get up and move around. The pain should be less and more mobility present. Again these movements should be done at least twice a day for best results.
Foot Pain?
Q: I have had chronic foot pain for 3 years now. It started with a sprain & I never did my stretches, and now I am paying the price. This is my 6th injury to it now. I am tired of it hurting 24/7. It keeps me up at night.Here is what happened... 1:sprain 2:stretches ligament 3:plantar fasciitis 4:chip off a bone 5:growth plate injury (don't know which kind)And now, 6: (the chiropractor says it is Enthesopathy) now i am going into the bone & joint doc. I want it to STOP!!!I need to know how to stop it... and don't say pills like ibuprofen and Tylenol because though don't work no matter how many i take.I am only 13 years old and it hurt like a, i not even going to say it, but whatever. Help!!! I can't lye awake every night and not get any sleep. I need helpThanks A Lot!!!!!
A: If your sprain is the third grade of ankle sprain, the one that is severe and occurs when the ligaments are actually torn and badly damaged, then chances are recovery are not as fast, and if you continue to use it even though you have not 100% recovered, you might have deteriorate it. The only few things to ask yourself are:i) did you stop doing activities after your sprain or other injuries? ii) can you use a splint to prevent it from gettng worse?Maybe you need to consult a few other podiatrists for opinions for the treatment and the pain management.If you want you can actually go to http://talk.foot-care.org/ where there are podiatrists online helping people like yourself answering foot health related questions. Maybe you can try this forum to get a better understanding.
