Should I be to blame for the new owner not taking proper care of the pup?
Q: Please I want legal advise, not your criticism. thanks. My dog had a litter of pups. when they were 3 weeks old the mother decided she didnt want anything to do with them and stopped feeding them and wouldn’t go around them. So we hand fed them until they started eating on thier own. when they were 6 weeks old i had a few people wanting to buy them. so i went on and sold a few, making sure that the new owners knew they needed their first shots and wormer that week. with them agreeing to do that i gave them the pups. About 8 days later one of the ladies emailed me to tell me her puppy had died and she demanded another puppy or her money back otherwise she was going to “do something”. I asked what happened and she told me the story about how the puppy had stopped eating 3 days before, stopped having bowel movements 2 days before, was throwing up the previous day, and had died that morning. I asked if she had taken the pup to the vet, and she said that she did AFTER the puppy had died. The vet didn’t do any exams except to tell the lady that it could have been parvo. Now, I still have a few puppies left, none of them have parvo, one of them got worms but after we gave them their shots and dewormer, they are all in perfect health. Now, i have looked for laws that say you can’t sell a pup before they are 8 weeks, and i can not find one in kentucky. all i know is we did not have a contract, a garantee of health, or even a reciept for that matter. i feal bad that the puppy died, but i do believe this could have been prevented if the puppy had been taken to the vet when it started getting sick. Now for the question… Do you believe that if I am sued, the judge will rule in favor of them or myself?
A: You will win. The puppy died of her gross negligence, perhaps she could even be charged with cruelty to an animal. No, it was not your fault and I do not even believe her, though she could be telling the truth, I have difficulty believing her.

A: Another BYB trying to get out of trouble after selling a pup way to young without shots and sick. Give the woman her money back and get you female fixed. Next time leave the breeding to people who know what they are doing.
