Rat ate a diseased rat after it died, is she safe?
Q: My 1 1/2 yr rat Ellie had a healthy litter of 11 7 months ago. i kept one baby and found the others homes, but the baby i kept is a male so he became cagemates with his dad. In november i rescued a 1 mo (guesstimation) old baby rat from horrible conditions in a Pratt’s Pet Place. It was being kept in a plastic bin with 2 adult females, 1 which was pregnant, and the other who was nursing newborns. The baby was trampled over and looked like he wasn’t being fed, so i took him. He stayed in the cage with Ellie and about a month ago started losing fur along his back. i started taking out protein from his diet since that can be a cause in some young rats, and just this afternoon i found him dead & Ellie eating his intestines thru his side (from a small hole, it didn’t look like she got TOO much but she did have quite a bit of blood on her). Obviously he had some sort of disease, i also noticed he didn’t grow much. i’m not sure what he had, but can Ellie get infected from eating his intestines and blood? i bathed her and bleach-cleaned her cage, water bottle, toys, etc. Can rats contract certain diseases by eating the blood/insides of a diseased rat? What kinds of illnesses? What are symptoms i should look for, and how long until i know she is in the clear? Also, i know she did not kill the baby. The hair loss and lack of growth indicated a disease. Plus eating a cagemate after it dies is common in rats, especially is the deceased rat is young, and providing the older rat sees it as her own (which she did). Can’t afford a vet for a couple months. Thanks. The vet visit to just get her EXAMINED is over $300.00, which i do not have right now. Details and useful info answering my question would be nice.
A: It really shouldn’t cost that much to take your furry friend to the vet and if it does there is help out there for that…Good luck ….
please correct this gramatically .(for persuasive speech , any suggestion is also okay )?
Q: recently , More than 200 people have died and hundreds of thousands have been displaced from their homes due to flooding in and around metropolitan manila in the philiines. The tropical storm Ondoy , was dropping a month’s worth of rain in just 12 hours and have affected a quarter of metropolitan Manila , as well as some 24 provinces around the country . The government of the philippines suggested the 1.8 million people affected by the storm and subsequent flooding . Like usual floods, dirty water from flood is all over there which can cause several serious diseases for especially children . poor people in the area damaged the worst and they try to rebuild and clean up with the very little they have . All the garbage came down the river and was dumped into trees , and on top of houses . So what should we do exactly ? as I said , everything is destroyed and these people have lost everything . The lack of safe water is a major health concern and could lead to disease .But there is what you can do for this really simply . think about donating to the UNICEF . now UNICEF is closely involved in delivering relief to displaced families , including hygiene kits , essential medicines , water purification tablets ,portable toilets , and family kits containing blankets and soap . and you can get involved through donation. It’s emergency . All they need is help , not just concerning or watching tv . You may wonder how to donate to the UNICEF , Just go to the website www.unicef.org and push the donate button . It’s easy and simple but you can save poor children and family who is suffering from floods . thank you .I think the part ‘ why do we have to donate for philippines ‘ is too weak . I even don’t know why .. because philippines are poor country ? help me ..
A: i’m not really good in grammar but i’ll try to give suggestions based on what i learned. ‘hope this helpsThe tropical storm Ondoy, “was dropping”… (you can change to “dropped”) …12 hours and “have” (i think it’s “has” if it refers to the typhoon as a cause)The gov’t of the Philippines suggested (maybe you can use “reported/announced” other synonyms then remove the word “the” before 1.8 million) i think you should remove or maybe reword “Like usual floods”, dirty water is all over there (you can also identify affected areas instead of using the word “there”) …”for especially” (change to “especially to”).poor people in the area damaged the worst(“poor people in the area were severely damaged”)and they try (“use tried” or “are trying to”)all the garbage came down…and on top of houses(not sure, maybe rephrase?)and could lead to “disease” (use infectious diseases – i think you should specify the direct cause of having such disease i.e. the people drink unclean water)but there is what you can do (but there are simple things that you can do to help)delivering relief (relief goods)poor children and family (families) who is (are) sufferingNote: My question is this, Is the flooding really mainly caused by the typhoon? i mean, in my opinion, it’s impossible for a typhoon to flood many areas that fast. i hope i’m wrong, but maybe the cause was that of releasing water from dams. if they did release water from the dams, at least they would have informed the people so they could evacuate the areas. same is happening with the next typhoon pepeng, this time floods are all over pangasinan, la union, etc. i can’t imagine people getting stranded in a mall because of flood caused by just a typhoon.i hope i’m wrong about my suspicions. heaven help us.
