Why haven’t i lost any weight yet?
Q: I started a healthy eating plan, and fitness regime just over 2 weeks ago but i haven’t lost any weight yet – why? I have been going to the gym 5 times each week doing cardio and strength exercises. I know muscle weighs more than fat and can add a couple of pounds but how soon should i notice a difference? I’m getting married in 4 months and want to lose at least 2 stone if not more.
A: Besides what other people have said:it generally takes a woman’s body about 4-6 weeks before she starts to see any results. Men usually start to see a difference in 2-5 weeks. Also, you will probably start to tell that you can work out longer, or that it becomes easier to do the same workout, BEFORE you see that you are losing weight. If you are doing cardio, it should become easier. Then, once it becomes easier, your body will start losing the weight. Once it becomes easier, you start to make it more strenuous or longer duration. This will keep the fat coming off. You might weigh the same now as you did when you started, but you could have already dropped 2% of body fat, without even knowing it!!
why haven’t i lost any weight?!?
Q: i have a small frame and i am a pretty small person so i don’t need a lot of food, but I still have 20 lbs that I would like to lose. I normally eat 1200 calories, but to lose weight I’ve been eating about 600 calories a day and doing hard aerobics for 45 minutes in the morning and 45 minutes at night. I’ve been consistent for 2 weeks and I haven’t lost any weight!!!! what should i do? i just really really want to lose weight and it feels like i’ve been trying and putting forth my best effort but its not enough.
A: There could be many reasons for this:1. Your metabolism is slow. – If this is the case, try eating more often, but in small amounts. If you get hungry, grab fruit, or a small snack to much on. You may get hungry later and feel like you’re eating too much, but in fact, eating like this helps your metabolism, thus helping you burn off calories. Also, building muscle helps add to your metabolism.2. You are exercising yourself too hard. – Studies show that taking a 5-10 minute break in between work outs helps you lose more weight then working our for and hour straight. It gives your body time to rest, so it will have more energy for a more effective workout. Also, if you’re going to exercise everyday, do a light exercise one day, and a heavy one another day. If you continue to do hard works out day after day, your muscles will not have enough time to rest, and as a result, you don’t get an effective workout.3. You might need more time. – Maybe your body needs a bit more time to break down the excess fat. Sometimes people need to work out for months before they see the results. Just keep at it! Results are more worth it if you work hard at them, since everyone is different. It might take more time for you than it does for someone else. Don’t quit and you should be fine.
Can I build muscle from walking, is that why I haven’t lost weight?
Q: I have been walking 3.5 miles a day in my city. I walk up hills for maybe about 1.5 miles of my walk.I have been doing this for about 2 weeks, I have also been dieting and eating all healthy foods and no sweets or junkfood! For the past week I haven’t lost any weight, but my clothes feel better.Am I gaining muscle on my legs and thats why the scale is the same?I didn’t think you could really build muscle from walking, any advice? Thanks!I am burning more calories than I am eating, so I know I should be losing weight.I am writing all my food down, so thats not the problem.
A: use a measuring tape and your clothes to measure your progressyou may have gained muscle and lost fat and that is why your scale is saying the same.you are using your legs more, so you will gain muscle.
